I agree that the search function sucks. I did a search on adjusting the valves and nothing showed up. What's that all about?

I did a search,
adjust valves,
find both words,
in message text,
in the KV,

and it produced 66 hits. Most of the hits were about adjusting valves on the Buell engines. Don't forget, there are other valves on bikes too. The KV has a lot! of good stuff in it.

Unfortunately I can't seem to find a way to post a link to my search result in this thread or I would do that. But you can open a new window and try what I did. Repeat it with (All of BadWeb) if you want a ton of hits to wade through.

Another part of the issue here is that the more "good stuff" there is to search, the more intelligent the search engine has to be.

And the more creative the person composing the search string and setting the parameters has to be.

And more willing you have be to go through the results to find the good stuff.

Blake wants a better search engine too, and it is on his of the things he wants to do for us IIRC. The search engine that is here now is not too bad and it is way better than nothing.

Does anyone else appreciate the irony that this thread has more posts than any other active thread on the XBoard?

Anywho...
I spent some time this weekend thinking of a positive way to resolve the underlying problems that have contributed to this issue.

This is what I came up with to improve the board.

The Knowledge Vault:
This is where technical topics should be posted.
PERIOD
People have complained that the KV does not get enough traffic and therefore questions are left unaddressed.

I say that when an XB (or any platform) specific topic is posted in the KV,
the link is cross posted to the appropriate platform board.

The same could work for the Classified section.
A drop-down can be added to Add Listing page asking which platform the post is related to.
Then the link is cross posted to the appropriate platform board.

This would help organize the postings by getting them in the right place but also increase the flow of traffic from the platform specific boards.

And I am not a Troll.
I am more like an evil Zookeeper.
Sometimes I prod the caged animals to get them riled up.

Laid?

I'm in TX, Sunny's in CA...

Didn't the noobies check the KV for info on getting laid?

Should we be repeating all the information here about getting laid for everybody to read all over again.

I mean, some of us have posted how to get laid, how to help our buddies get laid, how to get help getting laid, what type of special purpose equipment, what lubricants we need to use to get laid... I say let's put all the getting laid information and advice in the KV where it belongs and point the noobs in that direction so they don't clutter our valuable space with discussions on getting laid.

I've got too much time on my hands...

...oh wait... hands.... oooohhhh nevermind.... gotta go
