http://www.ccsracing.us/results/2006/050706%20BHF%20May.htm Link to the results. Everyone running did great all weekend. For some, been doing it for a long time. Others, it was their first race. Me, I had to sit out due to a low side in practice Friday which did a number on my knee. We had 6 XB's, a S-1 and a M2. I was the lone Ducati in the group, but welcomed anyway ( I think ) Well, Friday in practice, I THINK I came into a corner a little hot, relative to my skill level, and the front end tucked in. I managed to slide across the cement, burning through the stretchy part of my suit and giving me a little road rash. I was doing OK until I hit the gravel at which time the bike started to turn, flipping me over the top. My left foot got caught under the bike as I kick the windscreen with my right foot, breaking that. My foot popped out, but not before wrenching my left knee pretty good. I then took about 3 steps, running backwards at about 40mph at which time I did about 3 back flips before coming to a stop. All right in front of my wife, son, a fellow racers wife and their son. I got up right away, picked up my bike and started pushing it towards the Corner Worker when I noticed my knee didn't feel right. The practice ended and I fired the bike back up, road it to the pits, realized I had no front brake lever. Stopped it with the rear brake and just about hit the ground when I put my left foot down due to the pain. So I went to the Medics, had the knee looked at. Said it was strained. Decided racing the next 2 days wasn't a good idea. Stayed, help everyone else as best as I could and left Saturday night. But boy was I pissed when I should have been out there racing instead of sitting behind the fence. Some others in the group had some crashes as well, but all came through OK. There was Paul James, Jason aka Griz, Tom aka M2guy, Dora aka Buellgirlie, Greg aka Fusa21, Matt, Julian, Mike aka Coolice, Heather aka Hellion, Karri aka Cosmo, Nancy aka Fiery, CJ well we ALL know her, and many others. The help the Fellow Buellers give eachother is really nice to see. That's why I have my Ducati in the Classified section FOR TRADE for a XBR 12 or 9. Decided I'd like to run a Buell on the Track as well as the street. Looking for one to convert to a full time racer. Well, hopefully some people that were there this weekend will post some pics as I forgot my Camera at home. Man, I DID have a crappy weekend! |

At least you walked, or hobbled away on your own power. Racing is a full contact sport. Ask Vincent Haskovek. Glad you came away mostly in tact! Time to get those leathers fixed or replaced. You know you'll always land on the "sketchy" part if there is one. Murphy enforces his law with an iron fist. At least you got to watch good racing with good friends! |

I'm glad everyone was ok too, hated that Rocco didn't get to race but it could have been worse ! And I was impressed that Dora duct taped her leathers up and went back out to race after her crash, that's one for the girls !! Good report Rocco and go get that Buell !! Had fun watching the racing and hanging out with everyone there, especially little Will after so long !! Thanks to everyone !! Uwgriz and hellion, thanks for getting me back to the interstate, I'm geographically challenged if you haven't noticed !! |

Minus the crashes, it really was fun. I hope more fellow Buellers and Badweber's try and stop out. There is plenty of room under our 2000 square feet of Canopies!!! |

thanks rocco. you get better soon too! yes, i like the no crashing idea - a lot! canopy space - we do have lots of it, and any badwebbers are welcome to come hang out with us at the races. i think we've got my 10x20, and maybe 6 other 10x10s. we could go all in a row, and get a 10x80 with SIXTEEN buell racebikes in a row - how cool would that be? it was already damn cool with 8 buell racebikes this past weekend D |

dora's race weekend report. Ok weekend………not great. Had a crash in Saturday practice – have bruised, possibly fractured ribs on left side (had x rays and cat scan monday in milwaukee), will be pretty black and blue soon, leathers got ground down on right shoulder and arm, right outer calf, left back of upper arm, left upper thigh, BUT they did their job and kept me from abrasions. Bike slid around on its right side on the track and then into the dirt and grass – broke fairing bracket, broke brake lever, ground down handlebar end, swingarm and axle nut – frame puck did a great job. I have red marks on my bellypan from his fairing stickers, he has my bellypan paint on his knee puck, I found his brake lever in my bellypan – we were ALL tangled up together. Thanks to all of the buells pitting together, the bike was patched together, my leathers were duct-taped, and I went back out for another practice and 3 races. Friday practice – did ok, got comfortable with track, bike, new suspension settings (added more rebound front and rear by ½ turn from higbee’s settings) Saturday practice – crashed with an expert who was passing me on the outside in the carousel and we ended up headed for the same patch of pavement. My bike went down first, then his went over mine and did some flips – then the 2 riders and 2 bikes went flying off the track in one big clump. Went back out for 1 more very gentle practice session after this. Saturday race, placed 11 of 13 in Thunderbike – started last row, passed 2 guys in 2 different laps in the consecutive left turns Saturday race, placed 15 of 16 in LW Supersport – started last row, stayed behind Sunday practice – mostly uneventful, followed Greg Avello around, dragged knee for the first time (the wreck saturday does NOT count....!) when i went into turn 1 way too hot and had to toss it in really hard in order to not run off - ended up going super deep, and scraping both knee and bike! Sunday race, placed 11 of 11 in Supertwins (changed to this race from LW superbike because it was running alone, and not with the unlimited folks it sometimes does) – started last row, passed 2 guys into turn 1, but then got a meatball flag, was confused on what that meant (was afraid something was very wrong with the bike from the crash), pulled over immediately into grass at next corner station, so lost a huge amount of time talking to cornerworker – my offense was crossing the blend line into turn 1 during warmup lap, so only completed 4 laps in this race. Hence the last place finish. No laptimes from Friday practice (no transponder), but went from a first lap 1:50 in Saturday practice to low 1:40s in practice to mid-high 1:30s in races. best lap I had there was a 1:35 There ya have it (and I’m the maid of honor in a wedding in Denver in 2 weeks, in a strapless dress – I hope the bruises fade by then……) D |

D: Excellent report. and it sounds like it was an absolute hoot. It''s addictive, eh? Road Thing and I have avoided making commitments that require us to appear in strapless dresses (well, there was that one night in the Bronx) so we don't get in just such a situation. Look forward to the next report! Court |

Damn Dora! Make my giant knee seem kind of wimpy! I don't think any of us thought you were hurting that much. Don't forget the shirt for the next Race. I'm going to need it! You're an experienced racer now!! |

i think the adrenalin and ibuprofen ( i downed several thousand milligrams sat and sun at the track ) kept me numb and oblivious to most of it. i didnt really know myself til sunday night at home when i woke up in pain. rocco - i think i'll wear the shirt for the next 3 years or so, just to be safe oh alright, i'll give it back! After this last race I hope to convert one Honda CBR rider into an XB rider real soon. 'Fredo Cantu is seeing too many Buells getting faster, and getting paid for Top 5 finishes. He's been one of my best rivals over the past couple of years. This weekend he got the better of me...But just wait. I've got 'Old Reliable' going back in the bike this weekend. She should be breathing fire soon. Thanks everyone for another great Buell saga at the track. Your's, Uncle Greg (play's with Fire) |

Glad its not worse Buellgirlie, hope you heel fast. Congrats on draggin' the knee for the first time. Sounds like everyone had a great time. Maybe next year I'll make it to some CCS races. Hope I'm going to JGP next weekend for my second Provisional novice race.I came in 3rd out of 24 in my first. I'm still gettin' schooled and will be for a while. Racing isn't like runnin #'s at the normal track day...Nothing like everyone going into that first corner, everyone wants to be first and going from 4 wide into one. Fun..... |
