We're done. Finished at around 2:30 AM monday morning. Found a minor boo-boo in a map that made us rerun the XB9 Micron, but it wasn't a big deal. Guys, don't hold your breath. We collected a BOATLOAD of data. It needs to be boiled down and written up. We'll have weights, sound files, dyno plots, pictures, the works. But it is easily another 10 hours minimum of data consolidation to get this ready for public consumption. What I will say now is two things: 1)There really isn't a bad muffler made for these bikes, including the stock one, once they are tuned. 2) The test was grueling in so many ways, but the folks that participated in it were all GREAT. The egos were checked at the door, everyone pitched in and did what needed to be done, and when we were really getting between a rock and a hard place and when everyone was BEYOND beat, voices didn't get raised,, tempers didn't flare, it was just a very good experience. But for the details, you're going to have to wait a bit longer. Tomorrow, Terry and I train the Silver Eagle tech on how to fully map with DirectLink, and we clean up the major mess we made and get all the stuff ready to ship back to the right places. One thing that needs to be said here, and again, and again, is how cool all the folks at Silver Eagle were. We took over their place for the weekend, and they were the most gracious of hosts. They were BEYOND patient with us. All the sponsors of this test, and there were many that will all be properly acknowledged in the test report, were great. But Silver Eagle HD/Buell really went above and beyond. Al |

I would rather know what made a better TQ curve. But then I shop the grocery store backwards... |

I wd. BE VERY Surprised to see any exhaust Muffler ( stock headers )... Do much better than one another when proper tunning is done , I wd. guess all the top performers will be within 2 to 4 horsepower at the top end, Now torque curves is another matter , and IF your riding a BUELL who cares for that extra 2 or 4 horsepower Give me a break... Torque is where its at, and if ya don`t like that go buy a METRIC.. PERIOD |

Hogs, ole' buddy we are in complete agreement as usual. Maybe it's our advanced years. Peak HP is an interesting talking point but give me a big fat torque curve that starts way down low and stays strong in the middle where us slow old guys ride.

I'm super hyped to see the results and finally have some sound clips of the different pipes! I've only heard one in person and that's the D&D. Finally something to compare it to! =0) |

I have been checking badweb like every 5 minutes since yesterday morning, just waiting for the those sheets to be posted. I even took a big stab in the dark and looked in the dyno section of KV, but it looked no one had posted anything at all so far in May. Ghost town . . . |

Yep... gimme tons of mid-range. I never rev my bike any higher than about 5700 anyway... I could care less about peak power. I'll give up four at the top for two or three everywhere else any day. |

Wow, Must be really close numbers with no clear winners for us not to at least hear who won. O'well, for my Budget, I need my Valve (XB12) and my stock ECM. I have 2 bikes, Mine and my Wifes, to make louder and Odie is da man. I would love to see the numbers but unless you've got 1000 bucks or so to throw at this, you better REALLY do some research. Thank's for the info Odie and thanks to everyone on this Board. MAN IT IS GREAT TO OWN A BUELL |

Jimmy, It isn't that. It is very easy to take numbers out of context when no context is given. I could publish a spreadsheet today that gives highest torque, and highest HP, that each pipe produced. And with only a bit more work, I can publish the raw dyno charts. But without some info to describe how the data was obtained, what compromises were made obtaining it, and what caveats exist with the data, it would be a disservice to everyone. Also, lot's of people sponsored this test, by providing their services, pipes, support, etc. To publish bits and pieces of the data, absent their acknowledgement, would be wrong. In the end analysis, two weeks of waiting for it to be done right isn't going to hurt anyone. Think of how much better Christmas is because the tree is set up and the presents are underneath it for a couple weeks before you get to open it, and it'll all be fine. Al |

Al please don't take us for being unappreciative. We are all anxious and are not trying to be malicious. We are all gear heads that recognize the time and effort, time, funds etc that went into this test. We will wait for the results even if it means having to attend Shootout Anonymous meetings and will do so with a smile while knowing that y'all did something that we did not have the resources to accomplish , not to mention that y'all did not have to do it in the first place. Thanks y'all, Bart (Message edited by Speedfreaks101 on May 12, 2006) |
