Just curious if anyone has, or can get, a sound clip of their exhasut? I'm looking into aftermarket ones and would really like to them beofre I buy.

At idle they all pretty much sound alike, its at 60mph on the freeway where the sound difs rear their ugly head. And no pipe will sound as quiet as when new after a few thou miles, even repacking the 'glass doesn't ever seem to bring back the original lower db sound.

They all sound the same through sound clips, but they do not all sound the same at idle.

Bub - Loud - like a sportster opened up
Jardine, and V&H - a lighter bark
Kerker - like an extra loud V&H
Force - an extra loud Bub
WB - like a piped Duc (esp. w/23discs)
D&D - like a big twin - esp. the knuckle

There are a few I haven't heard and I'm creating a custom using donated parts off of Terry P.'s LSR contender - a tuned header, a little straightening of the tip area and a two sided pipe addaptor later, and a 4" supertrapp from a Buell - will be adding 9 more discs - comming from 2" - I for see no problems mounting it. - should have a interesting sound also.

Sounds like a cool project you have going there. I ithink I'm eventually going to find a wrecked Blast and really do up the motor.

From your input I think I might go with either the V&H/ Jardine or the WB.... Which one though, very though question. I thin a Ducati sound would be interesting...

good luck finding a WB, they ain't made anymore. Those of that have them either love them of have trashed it already because of the header issues. I have a second header so you ain't getting mine

WB-hard to find and unreliable! However a stock WB (without the extra discs) sounds unmistakably like a dirtbike thumper. Quite a few guys thought I had converted a dirtbike to street, just from the sound they heard.

The WB is really only unreliable if using their suplied front mounting hardware - really, if the can weld goes - 20 bucks its fixed with a double bead and any troubles are over permanently - just most folks look for bolt on and last forever - won't happen with a performance exhaust - only the boat anchor has the potential to last forever - and a few of those have broke in time as well.

Just curious but is the kerker worth the $354 price on American Sport Biles? Just curious as to what it has that others don't.

EZ-Even with a performance exhaust I'd expect more than 800 miles before the can fell apart. Thats not even having a chance to "bolt on and forget about it"!
I'm not knocking your exhaust but 4 cans in 2000 miles and the fact that WB no longer sells it because if reliability issues has to tell you something.

You see you kept sending it back to them - who couldn't see the problem - however, as soon as the welder guy saw the problem - he knew what to do to solve the problem, 20 bucks later and I never had a problem with that can again - he said it would take a very hard crash to break those welds - and Scott never had a problem with his mounting using the stock hardware, and when I switched to stock - my problems disappeared - knock on wood - I recommend to always use the stock mounting hardware - new - if the old is old - in the front section - when mounting an aftermarket exhaust - D&D thinks so also - lol

It's funny - you have many opinions an the aftermarket exhausts...

"At idle they all pretty much sound alike"
"they do not all sound the same at idle"

And then EZ... I don't think that you're going to make a Blast sound like a Ducati our a Knucklehead, but hey, that's me.

Personally, they're all loud. They're going to be loud. That's how they make more power - less restriction - which makes them loud. The longer ones tend to sound deeper/mellower and the shorter ones sound higher pitched/harsher. If you think about it from a musical instrument perspective it makes sense. I think that you can only buy a Vance and Hines, Jardine or a D&D new.

Actually White Brothers did see and know the problem and chose not to fix it, instead discontinue the exhaust (remember I did actually go to the corporate headquarters).
I believe their Harley Davidson exhausts are the only ones they give a 90 warranty, all others get a year.

Sitting right over the D&D you get that same tunk tunk sound you get standing right by a knuckle at idle - just not quite as loud - thank God - cause its definately loud enough! The WB with 23 discs sound is a bit higher in scale than the rest but just as loud - sounds like a Dark with an Akropov - very simular, and about as loud - lol

Hellloooooo...........
Maybe I'm missing something here.
When I was trying to decide on slip-ons for the Ultra, I went to the V&H website. There they have a button that lets you listen to the pipes and compare their many offerings.
I didn't like any of them, much too quiet. So I decided to go with the louder pipes by turning up the volume on my speakers....
The only sound bytes that would be of any use would be the ones going directly from the bike to your ear. Anything coming through your computer is subject to change by that little knob on the front of your speakers.

So EZ, you think the D&D exhaust will sound the same on a stock motor'd Blast, as it does on your 515cc/B70cammed/10.5:1 compression/titanium valved motor ? lol

Exactly - no, close enough however, since the WB sounds close enough to what it sounded like on the Black bike now riding on the red!

I wanted a chrome/aluminum exhaust, so I went with the Vance & Hines on mine. Great price, but I wouldn't do it again. I emailed them about additional silencing, never did get a response. (Because of this, this owner of 3 bikes probably won't do V&H again.) This is the 2nd year for it, and it rings in my ears on the freeway - through my full face (Shoei) Helmet. To do it again, I think I'd go with the slightly more expensive Jardine. At least I have the option of putting on the optional quieter cone, and still get an exhaust that's not black.

My experience with the Blast and with full face helmets:
A full face helmet can act like a funnel catching all the noise from below, seemingly echoing all around your head.
The Blasts exhaust exits right below your ears, bouncing off the ground. Makes it seem much louder than it really is. The different tones of the exhausts help. The WB & ProSeries seem quieter because one is diffused through the discs, while the other is a deeper tone.
You could probably get a bunch of your money back by selling the V & H before it starts scraping on the ground.

MUCH quieter with my Shoei full face helmet than with an open-ear half helmet.
If I decide to go half helmet again on the Blast, it will involve ear plugs.
No, officer, you may not look at my camcorder.

Perhaps a fix to the loudness of pipes-for the rider at least- could be to angle the muffler in a direction where it does not echo off of the tire and underside of the bike so much?

For example mine.

It is quite loud, although while on the bike It is comfortable.

keep in mind I have a full face helmet.

I'm not saying this is right, just a thought. I havent ridden any other blasts with aftermarket exhausts.

personally I LOVE the sound of my Jardine, I don't have a full face helmet. And I just LOVE making that thing bark when I crack the throttle in the morning of going through any semi-enclosed space. Other than that I don't think that my Jardine is all that loud, It could be alot louder.
I have a simple half bucket and I don't bother with ear plugs, Never have liked them anyways.

The Pro Series muffler is essentially 2 Harley baloney slash cut mufflers turned out to both sides off the bike. Makes it quieter and with a deeper tone.

I thought mounting the exhaust exit at the end of the seat, as far behind the rider as possible, would make a big difference. It really didnt make much difference at all, except when the muffler was just freshly re-packed (then it was quieter anyway-for about 30 miles).
