I can start the bike in gear with the clutch in or in neutral, just like it is supposed to be. However when I start to release the clutch and before it starts to engage the bike shuts off (like someone hit the kill switch). When in neutral it will rev up no problem. It drove perfectly fine the day before and this started the morning after. What are possible problems?

Side stand switch -- Take it out of the loop.

I unplugged it and it still does the same.

You'll need to complete the circuit after unplugging. Use a piece of wire and make a 'jumper.' Connect the two sides together. If that works I'd cut the plug off and solder and heatshrink.

There's also a safety switch for the clutch lever which can by bypassed in the same manner as Bigdaddy suggested.

I tried the side stand and it still did the same. I then tried the clutch lever and now it works. I just need to replace the clutch lever switch. Thanks to all of you. I really appreciate it. By the way this bike haas a racing ship, vance and hines exhaust, screaming eagle plugs. I bought it for 3000 and it has 3500 miles on it. It sat for about two years. Thanks again.
