Those are Napoleon Bar end mirrors. GearheadErikO's got a set on his bike and they work great. | ||

looks bitchin!  the glass appears to be flat, instead of convex - true? how does the view compare to the stock mirrors? | ||

Berkshire, I just got a pair off eBay. Putting them on tomorrow after work (forecast is for rain). The glass is, indeed, flat. The view almost has to be better than looking at my elbows. I saw a similar pair at a local shop, Ken Sean brand. They were less expensive, but obviously inferior quality. Can't wait to gawk at 'em! | ||

I got a pair off ebay too, but I got the cheap ones (EMGO, about $32/pair), and they aren't as nice. The glass seems to be flat, but... I dunno - it looks like there is some kind of weird optical effect going on somehow. I'll have to try them out and see. Since my bars are solid, I'll have to drill & tap the ends to install the mirrors. | ||

The Napoleons are on the bike. Since the weatherman lied about the rain, I went for a ride. I like the mirrors, good visibility. I can just see a little bit of my arm on the edge, rather that moving my head all around to try to see what's back there. They rock! | ||

One was basically okay - maybe a little "dim", but useable. The other one was noticeably distorted. It wasn't TOO bad in the daytime, but totally useless at night. I say "was", past tense, because that one isn't on the bike anymore... but I didn't take it off - it FELL off. That's right: IT FELL OFF, as in, "it fell off the bike", or, in other words, "IT FELL THE F*** OFF THE BIKE!!!" [Ron White: off] It did okay for about 500 miles. Then it got loose where the mirror head attaches to the curved stem part, so it wouldn't stay adjusted at speed. Then it got REAL loose, where it just flopped down with the big end down. Then it fell the f*** off the bike! So now I just have a stalk at the end of my right handlebar. It makes a good helmet hook. I like the style though, both for the look of it and for the ergonomics in different riding positions and the view to the rear - they let me see what I want to see... so I've ordered a set of Napoleons. My bar ends are now drilled and tapped 5/16"-18, with a bit at the end drilled larger and notched. It looks like the same mounting setup will work perfectly for the Napoleons. This would be a "solid" mount setup. My other option is to drill out the bar ends to accomodate the rubber expansion plugs that come on the Napoleons. According to the product info I saw, the rubber mounting reduces vibration. It seems to me that while it might reduce the frequency of the vibration, it might also increase the amplitude - in other words, the mirrors would shake instead of buzz. That would probably be helpful on a high-RPM sport bike, but the opposite of what you'd want on a thumper. Then again, it may be that the claim of reduced vibration is just sales hype. It seems like if the rubber mounting was tightened up enough to resist thumper vibes and jarringly rough roads, then it would be so hard that it'd pretty much be the same as solid mounting. Anybody have any observations on the effectiveness of the rubber mounting? (Message edited by berkshire on April 28, 2006) | ||

The Napoleons work real well. Sitting at a stop sign at idle they shake, but going down the road the view is clear, no apparent vibration. Of course, it could be that my eyes and brain are vibrating at the same harmonic frequency as the mirrors, so the effect cancels any distortion. Napoleons Rule! (even the mirrors!) | ||

I looked at those for my old Ironhead Sportster, but I was just a little concerned about their long term performance. - Will they loosen up and kill me? Ironheads couuld cause almost anything to fail from vibration. | ||

I've actually bought a similar set to use for my adjustable rearsets! They come in offsets that bring the pegs in close (like the link) or farther out on the bike. I shelved the project once we started racing though. | ||

Once I get to working with them I'll let you know (2 - 3 months). I doubt they bolt right up to the stock mounts without some mods (shims,etc). It would be a different approach to rearsets (I still plan to use engine plates). | ||

Even if you decide to not go with them - I'd like to see a few pics and maybe a brief discription on how they feel - if its any kind of viable on - off again thing - you know - put them on for track days - lol - GT - JBOTDS! EZ | ||

I believe this would be the right section for this. For those who have wanted a shorter more solid shifter, use a Sportster shifter from the same year as your bike (they seem to be the same through the 2000-present) by simply cutting the rubber spacer down the center to give the shifter room to fit. (Using half the spacer basically) It is 2 inches shorter than stock and will not swing down or fall off if the screw is a little loose like the stock one. If you wreck a lot, you may not want to go this route though.  | ||

They fit many KAWASAKI Models, 00/04 ZX600 is one of them ... You can get replacement levers from Cycle Gear(cyclegear.com) ... KAWASAKI front brake lever PN 13236-1185 and clutch lever PN 46076-1165 ... These levers are black . They are adjustable levers that fit the Blast and cost about as much as the CRG for the M2, however, you may find them on sale in the Japanese version. GT - JBOTDS! EZ | ||

shoot guys....... I some some new drag bars, but I don't have a clue what works... and I have been looking at rear set controls... which I REALLY WANT, but they all seem to be super expensive. has anyone found a cheap set? oh i guess i need new mirrors too. dang. | ||

Concur! All the tools needed to make rearsets is a drill and jigsaw. The aluminum is about $20. The most expensive piece is the shifter which is going to run about $100 (new). All the brake parts will be reused. We'll help! Traditional drag bars wont work (unless you turn them up at 45 degrees) but the Laverda's are the next best thing. | ||

What other bikes (make-model please) share the same break and clutch levers with the blast? I'd like to find some black ones (my dealership quoted me something like $50.00 each side for city x levers) | ||
