I was talking with a friend of mine today and he was describing a problem he had with his Jeep Commanche. The best way of describing it was that it would suddenly lose all power. As if no fuel was being delivered. Like the engine just suddenly shut itself off. Like missing a heartbeat. My bike has been doing the same thing and it's primarily been doing it since I had the TPS reset last year. I can be driving and the bike will suddenly lurch as if it's suddenly been turned of. Kind of like it skipped a heartbeat or two. It doesn't backfire, so I don't think it's a matter of it getting fuel but no spark and then igniting it all in the next revolution. Maybe more so that it's getting spark but no fuel for those microseconds. |

My Cherokee did exactly that. Turned out to be a bad oxygen sensor. For the bike, sounds like TPS. (Message edited by tank_bueller on May 01, 2006) |

He had told me he ended up having to replace the TPI on his Jeep. I may have to check with a dealer further away and see if they can get me in same day to check the TPS. I refuse to keep taking it back to the same dealer. |
