Well, I too have jumped ship. And not because I hate Buells, before anyone jumps to conclusions. I was only days away from buying a CityX, and just happened to find a great deal on a new leftover Super Hawk that I couldn't pass up. I did have my moments of grief with the local dealer, as it was impossible to demo a CityX before buying, despite the fact they were participating in the sling bag promo, and I did have some serious doubts about reliability after reading posts on this forum for 2 months. But I was still set to do it. For the type of riding I do, I still think the Buell may have been a better fit for me. My point in writing this is to say that the reliability concerns and dealership issues that have been covered at such great lenghts on this board did influence my decision somewhat, but I also want to say that I wish the Hawk had a forum like this. So many of you have been helpful and just the sheer volume of members is a great asset in getting help with items. I was truly inspired reading how many of you were getting sling bags for total strangers just to help out. I only wish I had most of you on the Hawk board. I'll still drop in from time to time to catch the latest gossip, and hopefully will still have a Buell at some point in the not to distant future, if the planets align... | ||

Congrats. The Superhawk is a cool bike and there are some screaming deals to be had on them. I looked at one pretty hard before buying my Firebolt. I don't know of a good Superhawk forum, but I did find a good Superhawk email list. I'm not on the list any more and I didn't save the address, but you could probably find it through google. I'm just curious what a "smokin deal" is for a new Superhawk? Before I found the Buell I was considering that bike quite seriously. I know they can be found unmolested in the used market for less than 5 grand. Buell were the only dealership willing to let me test ride a new bike. Did you ride the Superhawk before purchase? I think it royally sucks that some dealers are doing a fantastic job of holding the Buells down while the rest of the world gives a good kickin. Nutsosane- My idea of a good deal was an '03, brand new for $6150 out the door. I looked at an '05 locally, but it only comes in a strange (to me) color and the '03 is a bright electric blue. And since I already had planned on buying a blue CityX, that one caught my eye. It was still in the crate at a dealership in Charlotte, so it meant a few hundred in gas money to go get it. I was not able to demo it before purchase. I just had to rely on reviews and articles. It was the first bike I've purchased in ages that I couldn't demo first. Since getting back with it, I've had a chance to put only about 30 miles on it. It's definately got tons o' power, although not as low in the rev range as the Buell, and the riding position is a bit more extreme than I would have designed, but that's a somewhat easy fix down the road. Overall I'm thrilled with it, especially when the price is figured in | ||

I have both - an 03 XB9R and a 04 SH, owned the XB for 3yrs has 30k miles, had the SH for one yr put 10k miles on it. Enjoy both of them, but. The XB handles and brakes much better, the only thing I dislike about it is the clattery engine. The SH has two 48mm carbs which can be a bother, 35 - 40mpg is normal, and has issues with cam chain tensioners. The SH has better low RPM torque and will rev to 10k. The SH seems to be less tiring after an all day ride. noisey |
