Hi guys long time no see. I've got a 2K X1 that under hard acceleration in 1st or 2nd gear I get what feels like a slipping drive belt. I can't believe that's what it is but that is as close as I can come to describing the feel of what happens. It isn't a tire slip kind of feeling more a chatter. I've been through 3 sets of tires and it remains consistant. I think it has to be either the clutch slipping and grabbing or the belt skipping a tooth or two. The drive belt is tuber loose, primary filled with Sport tech tranny fluid and clutch properly adjusted. It doesn't appear to matter if it's hot or cold, it is completely dependent on how hard my right wrist is cranking on the throttle. Any thoughts, it's not a real big deal but I am getting mildly annoyed that I can't get rid of it. |

If the DRIVE BELT "SLIPS" with a PROPERLY ADJUSTED DRIVE BELT this is an indication of a worn out rear sprocket(good for 1K+) ...
The REAR DRIVE BELT when properly adjusted
should have 2 inches of free play on the tight spot on a TUBE FRAME BUELL ...
IMHO the DRIVE BELT SHOULD BE REPLACEED at 50K miles on TUBE FRAME BUELLs ... The BELT
should be up-dated(when replaced) to the XB12Ss/XB12X belt
as it is a better belt ...
Since you have a 2000 X1, that is a 6 year old original belt and will probably have
60K miles by now ???
WHAT IS YOUR MILEAGE TODATE ???
If you still have the "SPRING PLATE" in your clutch, you need to remove it and replace it with 2 STEEL and 1 FIBER ...
SPORTSTER CLUTCHES have not had this SPRING
PLATE in their clutchs since 2001 models ...
TUBE FRAME BUELLs have SPORTSTER engines in them ... |

Check your clutch adjustment and ensure clutch is fully engaging.
Since it only happens in lower gears, it may be your belt jumping. Inspect belt and rear pully and front pully. |

Buellistic and Blake,
The bike has 23K on it. Belt play is about 1 3/4" at the tight spot. I will take the belt off and inspect the pulleys. THe clutch is engaging and disengaging correctly and fully. Not sure about the spring plate though. |

Reminds me of KIS - Adjust the belt and clutch...see if the problem persists. I have been always leary of the over tightened belt so I run mine loose. Just not to the point of slipping.
