Nine year old bike, good chance you have some loose or corroded connectors. I'd disconnect the battery (POS off then NEG off), remove the seat, and separate and reconnect every connector I can get my hands on easily. Pull and reinsert every fuse. If you have some Dielectric compound, put a small amounts on the connectors as you put thing back together. It will ease the fits and may help prevent more corrosion in the long run. Look for any loose connections on the ground screws/bolts. Clean and retighten any that are loose. Clean the battery cable contact patches. Light scraping with a knife held at a right angle is a good way, get them bright. Check the battery voltage if you have a VOM, it should be around 12.4 or higher if fully charged. Reconnect the battery (NEG on then POS on) and see what you got. A clacking noise in the area of the starter is the starter solenoid and that means a low battery usually. If you have to charge the battery, a 1.5 - 2 Amp rate is safest and best. Don't more than a 5 Amp rate and don't use that for more than about 15 minutes at a time. Jack |

All right! Glad to help. Maybe you'll get a good riding day today. We're cool but clear up here in Maine today, I'm gonna get out for sure. Jack |
