Anyone have any idea or know of any reason as to why Buell puts the cheese grater on the bike in the first place when it seems like almost everyone who owns a Buell removes it? | ||

I powdercoated mine to match my bike. I dont mind it either way, its just cheaper and easier to leave it on there. | ||

IIRC, the plate must extend to the end of the rear tire... Of course, maybe it's just me, but I like the cheesegrater | ||

Cool, I'm not alone. Hey Percyco, or anyone else who reeds this.... can you tell me where you got the Pegasus tank protector on your airbox cover? I used to see this on ebay but can't find them now, thank you! After asking about the airbox cover, I googled and found it a few places... darn... 50 bux plus shipping seems a bit expensive tho, anyone know where to find it cheaper than that? Thanks Brad. My buddy bought a powdercaoting set up and just does it in his garage. We coat everything we can. All of my pegs and heel gards are in Harley Wrinkle Black, the passenger peg supports are P/C gloss black, the sides behind the flyscreen are gloss black and some other little things. The Race muffler is in Matte finish, just like the stock one. I love it! | ||

Eexb, I did it myself. I used the cheese grater to make a mould with plaster and did it with fiberglass. Relatively easy to do. The mini turn signals are from AmericanSportBike $11.65/pair. Very nice for that price. http://www.americansportbike.com | ||

I believe that it adds to the overall length of an already tiny motorcycle. I think it is a cosmetic adjustment that buell made because many might say upon a first glance without the cheese grater that the bike is just too small and not even consider buying one. That's what I think. | ||

I believe it is for aerodynamic reasons. It allows the area above the back wheel to 'breath' and so smooths out the turbulence created by the tread off the back tyre.  | ||

It is there to satisfy some domestic markets that insist that the bodywork of the bike extend beyond the rear wheel. Some of the European countries such as Switzerland and I believe Germany have this rule for new bikes. | ||

I kept my cheese grater for almost a year before I cut it off. I don't dislike it but I have to admit I like the look without. I'm not a big guy 5'9" 155lbs, so the short stumpy looks fit it well. It would look a little funny with a bigger rider. IMO. With:  Without:  | ||
