As you guys know today my xb9s tipped over when it was warming up in the driveway. Link to story here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/191616.html?1145668998 * Anyways I took a half day off from work, went to the shop and got my parts I needed. Got home installed them and then it was time to check out Buell demo that was hosting today and tomorrow. Anyways I got my sling back-pack Also since my bike was sitting out from the other Buells around, a couple was scope'in out my bike. As I approached my bike and putting on my helmet, the gentleman asked if this was my bike. I said yes. He complemented it and saying it was very nice. I said thank you. Also he asked if I maybe interested in selling it. hehehehehe I told him that I just got it and I never considerd it. Anyways he asked me to give him a price. Ok, hell. I told him a price over $1K more then I got it for (the guy does not know what I paid for it). So he agrees that he wanted it. I told him let me think about it, b/c I wanted to see what the wife thinks. We its about 10:00 pm here and wife says do it!!! I don't know. I was talking to a harley sales rep today and he says Buells are hard to come by when private sellers sell them b/c majority of Buell owers have high pride in these bikes. I don't know even though I can make an extra 1K cash, I know I can't get another XB9S like this since the Black and Grey was the one I wanted and got now for the price I paid and I know this bike was never dropped (accident) . What you guys think? I know for one thing is if I sell it, wife would want me to get a cruiser. A budget one at that. Something like a 1100cc Yamaha Virago. Should I? I would love the wife to ride w/ me, and I know my XB9S she does not like to sit on the high and stiff seat and says she does not like the way it feels back there. Oh well...... my rant is over. Oh also I upped my rpm idol for 800rpms to 1000rpms and it runs so much better btw. (Message edited by mikerocket on April 21, 2006) |

I have a 9s that the wife hates to ride on. I test rode a uly to get my free back pack, what a nice ride. Have your wife take a ride with you on a uly. I had a blast riding the uly and the seat is ALOT more comfy than my Lightning. Matt |

Well from experience.. If you buy a cruiser she will only ride a few times and then after that you will be solo again.. If it was me I would sell the bike if I could buy a brand new BUELL.. But if not, it would be to sentimental to sell.. Again this is just my .02 worth so.. |

I hear that. I think I am not ready for a cruiser and I would hate it if I got one, she rides couple times then I be solo. I be pissed. lol As for selling my bike to get a new buell. NOT going to happen. I was a cheap A$$ getting this bike and I dont want to pay extra 4K more for a new one and make payments (no way JOSE) . Matty7092 - I cannot ride the uly b/c it sits to high for me. i drove an XB9s just like mine. I was amazed how much easier that clutch was the pull in compared to mine. I wonder why. lol. |

Hey ya stretch. I dont think I'd want a 883 sportster. the guy at work that got me into street bikes had a 883 and so did his wife. Both were 04 models w/ about 15K and traded them in for new Fat Boys. The guy that owned the sportster said it was not very comfortable and no upper power. That is why his wife had her own then too. This guy only weights about 130lbs and said that to me. lol. |

Have your wife take a ride with you on a uly. From the wife/passenger point of view - a test ride on a Uly may be the answer. I enjoy riding with Carlos on our Uly. Plenty of room, comfy seat, bags and it's still a bike he can have fun on solo. He just rode the Dragon in western NC and rode the GA mountains with the 3%er's, bags and all.

A budget one at that. Something like a 1100cc Yamaha Virago. Don't do it! Save a few bucks and get a second bike for two-up riding. I think you'll be pretty bummed after a few months on a Virago. Not bashing any brands, but the performance difference between an XB and a Virago will be like going from a Hot-Rod Corvette to a family station wagon. Buells are made for solo riding anyway, so just remove those back passenger pegs from the XB and buy a second bike as the family truckster! Speaking from experience (been through quite a few bikes!)... |
