First is it worth getting the mod? And second, do you HAVE to get the catch can with it?, Thanks, Bradley |

If you are taLking about taking the head breather hose/hoses out of the intake track and running them to a catch container, "YES" !!! YOU DO NOT WANT TO PUT ANYTHING ONTO THE INTAKE TRACK TO POLUITE THE INTAKE CHARGE !!! |

You don't HAVE to, b ut it is a good idea. Norris Performance is making grade A quality catch can. It is being marketed through both Drummer - KD fab, and American Sport Bike. You'll be a believer the first time you dump a bunch of nasty GOO out of it. |

I routed my breather hoses down next to my oil cooler and into a 3/8" vacuum coupler line attacher thingamajigge and attached a small breather filter that I got at Pep Boys for $12. I am also one of those people that dont polish my muffler or take a tooth brush to the nooks and crannies of my bike, I ride it. |

there is always that too. Effective, and cheap. Just not quite as finished looking. (Message edited by diablobrian on April 21, 2006) |

As I remember, there is three cable that are guided by the inner air box cover. What happens to these three with out the cover on there? Thanks, Bradley |

I gotta get a pic up here, it sounds hokey but the filter is chrome with stainless mesh and it looks pretty trick. I just cant afford a "billet" catch can, those things are expensive. I gotta keep some money in the bank for those unforseen crashes that I seem to flirt with every morning from some dumb a$$ on a cell phone or putting on makeup. |

BF31, You just route them around. No problem. |

I just put my air box eliminator kit on this afternoon. I put the K&N filter in the regular air box last night while I was installing my race ECM. Hauled the bike 100 miles this morning to get the TPS reset then hauled it back. When I got home I installed the air box eliminator. I did not install a catch can. I just drilled a hole in the old air box bottom plate, double nutted a piece of all-thread in the hole with some of those washers that have rubber on one side. I then drilled a hole in the American Sport Bike lid, dropped it over the all-thread and threw another one of those rubber coated washers and a wing nut on top of it all. No catch can to drain. Every production engine in America today, that is built to operate on public highways, has the crank case vent routed back into the intake track. I think it will be OK. I may be giving up a very small amount of performance, but I have more power than I need for the twisty back roads I ride around here anyway. As a side note, that air box eliminator kit is awesome! Sounds like its going to suck your jacket right into the engine every time you nail the throttle! Just my 2 cents on catch cans. |
