Help please, I've finally found an adapter to fit between my notebook and the factory hookup. I'm about to do a TPS reset. Previous posts and the factory service manual (page 1-49) are a bit unclear as to whether you do steps 1 to 6 with the engine running or not! |

From how I read it, engine off for the entire thing. You back off the idle adjust, snap the throttle shut, zero the TPS, and adjust the idle back up to some value. Then start the bike, warm it up, and adjust the idle for 1100RPM. |

That's how I read it too but I'm confused how the electrics read the idle adjust etc with the engine off, it doesn't even mention turning the ignition on, seems like an oversight, trouble when someone who knows what they're doing writes instructions for someone who doesn't? I'm too far from a dealer to screw up so I need to do it right first time! |

Oh, ya, probably need the key on, kill switch to "run" and all that so the ECU gets power. But not running. |

yup, key and kill switch on, not running gently force the throttle closed from the grip. If it sticks a little when you try to open it, you have it right. IF it doesn't, your throttle stop screw is not backed off far enough. |

Just a thought here. Wonder if it makes a difference if the engine is hot or cold when you zero the TPS. It is measuring voltage and components are generally effected by temperature. Not to mention the entire butterfly and throttle body expand with heat. |
