So, I got my tps reset after putting in the new motor from Revolution Performance and we have problems. I had to put in the stock ecm, because my re-programmable ecm couldn't be used with the motor. So I have a Dobeck TFI and was told this would work. First off the code comes up because no exhaust valve, with the race exhaust. Is there something that will trick it into thinking it is still there? Next, the big problem, at 4000 rpm in first the bike falls on it's face, then at 4500 in second same thing, and in third it won't pull past 5000 rpm. It runs great up to there and then dies out. It does seem lean as adjustment to the TFI sem to not correct it. Any suggestions, this is starting to get on my nerves..... |

Have you spoken with Dave @ Appleton HD or Al @ Performance? These two can lead you in the right direction if they cant resolve your problems. They are in the sponsor section and are both a wealth of knowledge. |

I think Al at American Sport Bike has the exhaust valve emulators |

Well I spoke with Al at American Sport Bike(terrific guy, very helpful) and they said they will have the emulators pretty soon. But I guess the bigger problem is the Dobeck TFI according to him it just isn't going to do the job, that I need. It looks like the Direct link is what I need. Which sucks because it also looks like the closest skilled tuning help is 8 hours away in WI. Not to mention scheduling is tight. I must say that all in all this is not making a very good experience for this first time Buell owner. The frustration level is very high and she's about ten pictures away from Ebay if stuff doesn't start working out a little better. |

Take no offense Top Gun, but I could not help wondering why you have a new, seemingly highly tuned motor in your new Buell? One would have thought that specialist engines might be more appropriate for an experienced user. That being said, this site will give you access to all the people and equipment you need to get the job done, and it sounds like you have already found some of the best. Whether or not your frustration level will go down to acceptable levels is a question I shall not attempt to answer at this point in time. |

Sorry topgun about your issues. But keep in mind this is normal when you start messing with modifying bikes, cars included especially if you don't let the tuner build it completely for you. Even then sometimes they have issues that give them a headache. I've got plenty of nightmare stories of my own in dealing with modifying cars and bikes. Took an axe to one of my cars 68 souped up Fairlane one time....lol I was young and dumb okay...hehehe Keep your chin up and chalk it up as a positive...at least you are learning more about your bike than most will ever know about theirs. I'm afraid there is no easy answer, get the bike to the direct link tuner. |

Dear Jon, I'm leaving you... Nope wrong kinda letter. The reason I have the motor is because as the bike was, it was shall I say uninspiring. After 15 years on nearly every other metric sportbike out there, the stock bike was not going to get it. I am what I would consider to be an experienced user. The site has been very helpful and I'm sure it will all work out, it just pains me that the local dealers don't give a rats a$$ about a bike they sell. In my defense this was "supposed" to be pretty straight forward as far as a performance upgrade. We are not talking about a turbo, supercharger or elaborate nitrous system( all of which I have done on bikes in the past) It was supposed to be ready to go...bolt it in and ride. And there is were the frustration starts. Ok, rant over back to work. |
