I want one for the street - 650cc - sweet - be the same weight as a current stock Blast and would be a million times better at everything!
Yeh - you bet I'm drooling - I'm sure a lot of other folks would also! Check it!

Totally tight!

This would be just as bad as the one headlight lit thing...You know, the "You've got a headlight out...."

Except now it would be, "Ah ...you're missing a cylinder!"

That's the bike I've predicting that Buell would make for the past 3 years. Maybe...someday....somewhere

Yeah - its a cool machine - I like it! Wouldn't it be cool if the factory could come out with a limited edition - FireBlast - nice name - sure would round out the Buell line on the bottom side and they could improv on the Uly for the top, with the RR for the racers;0)

I'm not an XB fan, I've got an M2 for the V2 power already, & I'm not keen on the Blast, but I'd buy a 650 XB 1 pot. (if the price was right)

Yes - there would be a definate weight savings because of all the unnescessary stuff that is not needed for the single - putting it below the stock Blast weight - it would be a fun bike to play on in the goat roads out here where handling outweighs all else. I'd buy one in a flash!

Actually....there is probably very LITTLE (if any) weight savings.

XB9R Dry weight 385 lbs
Blast Dry weight 360 lbs

Based on what it cost me to ship 2 cylinder heads (22 lbs), I guess the front jug with all the running parts is close to 25 lbs. That would make it a net wash.

Still would be a cool little thumper: D

Naw - minus fan, all that airbox FI stuff, rear cyl and its associated components, etc. - it comes in lighter - your still in twin mode thinking - when you ask what the single engine needs - a lot of things for the twin disappear - even the oil cooler would be a luxury for the street, though I'd want one as an added accessory - and on the track I'd recommend one.

It being set up for the track and all, is there any information on how it did at the track?
Do we know who made it?
Is it a half of an XB, if not, how'd they connect the swingarm?
Any more information would be appreciated.
Nice find EZ!
We were just thinking about forks and swingarm from an XB for a Blast, this seems to be the better answer.

This link will take you to some general info..
You know if you bolt an XB head/pist. to the Blast eng. then it becomes a Bolt in affair - sweet!

when the new bolts come out with all new stuff ( frame, body work ) mr. E should pass down the hardware from the old style and make an xblast......,keep the blast for the beginners. And so in the end Mr. E could save money by not having to do r&d for a new blast and have two kinds of blasts the blast S and the X-Blast R

If you are going to compare the weight of the XBlast to a stock Blast, you have to prepare the Blast the same way. Strip the same things that aren't on the XBlast off the Blast (lights, battery, etc.)

I have a suspicion (total guess) that the XBlast will be heavier than a similarly stripped Blast. The rear wheel, (front wheel, too?) tires, suspension components, and maybe even the frame have got to be heavier than a Blasts.

Not true - the weight of the Bolt dry 385, the Blast 360 - that 25lbs would be more than lost by the time you minused all the things needed for the twin that are not needed for the single - probably be 5 to 10 lbs lighter for the single XBBlast in stock configuration, than the current Blast - with lights etc. - for racing you could probably trim another 20lbs easy -

if the scoot were truely engineered to be a single, the weightsavings would be much great --

to whit, the frame, suspension, wheels, brakes, are all designed to accomodate the great weight, vibration, and mass of the XB engine -- you could lighten up everything to some degree or another and save wieght big time -- like to the tune of another 50 pounds or so, I'm thinkin (in my non-egineering brain)

SIngles are BIG FUN indeed!

With gas prices as they are - an XB single would be very popular with the commuting crowd as well as with the single crowd - more current Blasts are now selling due to their great gas mileage than actually for beginner purposes, and the funny thing is - when you go to hi-performance modifications on the bike your gas mileage gets better - lol - a bike for daily commuting that has great gas mileage and you could still play with on the weekends! And talk about cheap insurance - lol - The XBBlast!

I like the XBlast. Makes more sense than a Blast engine in a tuber's frame.

Does anyone know how much it really weighs?

Well the guy who owns it says its lighter than the Blast in every respect but tires - lol - and I tend to agree, due to the fact that I've been chewing on this exact topic for a few years now - minus all the things you need for a twin motor on a stock XB, except perhaps the oil cooler - lol - and you come out with a bike that would weight less than a stock Blast. At least on paper thats what happens.

A 350 lb 50HP single doesn't really sound like all that much fun. At the price to produce Buell would have to dins a way to get it to 300 lbs wet and 65 horses but that ain't gonna happen on an XB platform with that lump...

Why not? A 250 Ninja or VTR is in the same weight range and only puts out around 26 ponies...
