All,

I'm looking to purchase a new Lightning Long (XB12Ss) within the next 30-60 days. I have had a problem finding any dealerships here in California that will move off of MSRP. I know they need to make a profit, I just don't want all of their profit off of me...

Do any of you know a decent dealership in CA that will deal on a new bike... No trade-in, just "cash on the barrelhead"!!

Thanks!!!

Lee

A year ago, before I bought my Firebolt, MSRP was the going rate even if the dealers had bikes and no buyers. The "deal" that I got on my bike was only because Santa Maria was getting out of the Buell market and just wanted them gone. Hopefully somebody who lives by a dealer will chime in on who to talk to.

When you get it, let me know. There's a few of us around here on the central coast.

i got mine in livermore harley davidson, they seemed to sell the buells (even though i never see any around here) so i didnt get a deal, but i got mine for msrp which i believe was 10300, i think it was $12003 out the door. was last year. i got the 2% for the first year and i think it is 10% now, not sure. but they were pretty cool there, i was happy with the transaction.

I bought my 06XB12Ss from Fresno Harley/Buell for 10499.00 plus Clovis taxes, shipping, tire fees and paid a total of 12055.00 out the door. And they have a couple of Ss's in stock and R's too.

It must be a California thing.
I got my 05 12Scg from Dudley Perkins in SF & it was $12197.00 after all the fees & such.

Thanks for the info...

Bertman,

Santa Maria Harley is full of less than helpful folks. Since I live in Lompoc, I checked there first some months back. I asked them if they could service a Buell if I bought one and they were complete rude, arrogant, obnoxious A-holes.

Anyway, I'll find my dream ride as soon as my ZZR 1200 is sold. Know anyone who wants a killer Kawi???

Go see Ernie at HD of Glendale. I got my '05 XB9SX at a great price there. They/he are really in to Buells there as well. A bunch of the guys race them, etc.

Ernie at Glendale !!

I bought 2 Buells from him. He's the on-track support dude for our racing efforts as well.

Sure, he is a sales guy but you can talk to him. Tell him Slaughter told you to talk to him!

If you have good credit or cash from another funding source, he will certainly negotiate. It's only when somebody needs him to get creative with financing that he's less likely to want to cut the price a whole lot.

I don't know if it's still there, but Cycle Center of Fremont had a brand new 05 XB12s on the floor last week for $7500.00! It is not used, it was a brand new left over 05 model that they wanted to clear from the floor quickly. It was black with the gold rims.

If anyone's looking for a new "s", I would definitely give them a call to see if they still have it...

I feel your pain. I'm in the Bay Area and looking to pick up an XB sometime this year. The dealerships around here just don't seem interested in charging less than MSRP.

Bartel's in Marina Del Rey wanted to charge me MSRP for an 04 XB12S last november. Besides the Uly, that's all they had. I walked and found a new 05 on Ebay for less than MSRP.

when i bought mine from livermore, i went to fremont first, and one guy there told me the bike was $11300, that was the price of the bike, not out the door, he even looked over his sholder like he was giving me a deal! needless to say i went somewhere else

but 7500 is a kick a$$ deal

Hey guys, been a long time lurker and just registered, I actually bought the leftover 05 12s from cycle center last week, so it's no longer there. All told after TTL and any other fees I took it for 8590 OTD. Not too bad I think.

Shinobi13, I would still say give them a call and see what they can do for you, I was just in there the other day and they had two XB12SS, one black the other red, call and see if Brooks can help you he is a very helpful guy. I still have there # it is (510) 657-7200.
Hope this helps.

i just went today and test rode the uly, man that thing is nice, sure shifts smooth compared to my 05 xb. anyways, i also talked to Brooks, he was a pretty good guy, i had no intention of buying, i am sure he knew that, but he showed me the uly, all the bags and stuff, very informative. test rode and got my bag. a much more plesent visit than last time. i would recomend at least talking to him. they have 6 or so buells there so they have no shortage, i didnt see what ones, but a lot of them.

I would expect to any any kind of deals on bikes right now with summer arriving and Gas prices going up everywhere. Just my 2 cents. They would come off the price on my 06 CityX....but I had to have it and I am so glad I did

Just my 2 cents

For a while the lowest selling dealer around SoCal was California HD/B in Harbor City. They were selling XBs for thousands less than other dealers some time ago. Ask Roc. I don't know how or why they were doing it or if they still do, but it might be worth it to ask them.

Not sure on pricing, but the Buell dealer in Folsom, CA (near Sacramento) had 6-7 Buells on the floor last fall.

They also had a Shifter paint set and a Voltage paint set hanging on the wall with saddle bags and other accessories.

Damn, I love you guys!!!! You've been crazy helpful to me in my search...

I read in one of the posts about a leftover 05 XB12S. I was looking at the Long... how much real difference is there between the two??

well, from riding the uly today, which has the same wheelbase as the long from what i understand, i thought if felt more stable, but then again, it is a different ride all together because of the super plush suspension on it, i didnt get crazy on it, but i got on it in some turns and stuff and it felt good, although it felt like it did dive a little, but i have a cg and the uly i am sure has a couple of inches of travel on my bike. i would buy a uly if i was gonna get another bike.
but other than the bike being like i think 4 inches longer, and having more fuel, and the better gearbox, they are the same, but if i had a choice, and the price was not a huge difference, i would get an 06 for the tranny alone, but if these guys are getting the bike for like 3-4k less than i got mine in early 05, then i would no doubt get an 05. but from what i have read, you just have more room on the long, so if you are taller, i would get the long.

It also depends on your size. I'm 6ft 215lb and the XB12Sslong is perfect for me. Seat is also higher and the suspension is set up for heavier riders, it also has lower foot pegs than the R, but all S's have the same foot pegs. The R's peg are higher for more of a tucked position. But there is only about an 1in difference between the foot pegs, but sometimes that's all you need, that what she said, Ha! Anyway you have to decide yourself, you need to go set on one and ride one to see what you like. That's what I did. I almost bought a R until the Ss came out. I'm glad I looked around before I made my decision.

Cool, I'm glad some some recent buyers chimed in here to give you some information Lee. I was really hesitant about buying a bike that no one local would be able to service after I bought it, but the people here convinced me that the bike was worth it. If I had not bought the one I got from Santa Maria I probably would have bought from Ernie at Glendale, just because of his passion for the bikes.

Yeah the people at Santa Maria Harley are dicks. Some remember me for buying the Buell, others still think I made a mistake for not buying a Road King that they think I really ment to buy. NOT!!

I'm 6'1" and do okay on my R but I really would like to see a SS and how much more relaxed a riding position it is.

I can't speak to new bike pricing, but if I lived in the bay area, I'd be talking to Vallejo Buell. They are enthusiastic about the brand, they have several folks that work there that ride Buells, the techs are good. They were a sponsor on both the BRAG All Cali ride and the No Whinin tour. Even if I didn't buy it there, I'd sure be considering having it serviced there. But keep your eye on the total package and not just the lowest price.

I spoke with Andy at Simi Valley HD/Buell. He seemed to be willing to work with me on an Ss. He was very pleasant and professional over the phone. As soon as the ZZR sells, the Ss will be in my hands!!!

By the way, I'm 6'1" and 220, so the Long seems to be the way to go.

Thanks for all the input, guys!!! You have been a huge help and if anyone is down near Lompoc, I always have a cold one in the fridge!!!!

I don't know how accurate last year's info is now. I'm in the bay area and struggling to buy a XB12Ss for MSRP (10,499,so I'm expecting 11,500-12,000 OTD when I do the math). So far Fremont Cycle says they'll sell for MSRP but then say it is 13,500 OTD, so I can see why they have plenty in stock. Vallejo has none but they are up front about selling for 1,100 over MSRP and their OTD is still 1,000 less than Fremont selling at MSRP somehow. Next I'll be trying SF, Livermore, Folsom, Fresno, Simi, and Glendale in that order before I give up on Buell dealers and settle for a Triumph Speed Triple. Any more recent experience buying 2006s around here? I want the bigger tank and new trans or I'd just go for a used S.
