I am thinking of buying these for my bike From American Sport Bike. I never installed blinkers before, are they pretty easy? Do the old ones just unscrew? Are there wires and stuff that need to be run? Anyone here use these particular lights... also, will they work in the front and back? Shanks!

The only problem you might run into is the length of the aftermarket wires for the right side. Other than making an extension, no problems. Let me know if you need some extra lenses for those, I have 2 or 3 laying in the barn. |

Buell12hundo, did you have to run any wires? Do the old ones just unscrew? |

the blinkers front and rear all have a threaded rod on the end of them that sticks through and a nut is tightened on the other side. the hardest part of removing them is getting the damn nut over the bullet plugs, but its like a 5 min deal |

had to change the connectors (male end) to a smaller or bigger size cant remember, I didnt have to make the wires any longer and they still blink normal like cryptic1911 said its a five min job ty |

When you say the connectors do you mean how they plug in? Will changing these be obvious how to do it once I take the old ones out? |

the lights use two wires per unit same as the stock ones but the male to female connectors are different the new ones will be to small so I just took the stock male end cut it and used a wire connector to put it all back together. Its not hard to do you'll see what I'm talking about when you get to that part.just buy them and if you get stumped just post your questions Im sure one of us will chime in with help ty |

Are the kellermans legal... will I pass inspection with them? Also, where do the blinker wires plug into? Do you have to take apart the dash to get to where they plug in? Thanks again. (Message edited by earwig on April 17, 2006) |

The wires come out of the base of the current turn signal - within a few inches there should be wire connectors. They simply unplug. Unscrew the nut on the base of the signal and then slip the wires through and out. The new signal plugs are smaller, so you can either get adapters or cut the ends off and make your own connections. As for the Kellermans - they're not DOT approved, so it really depends on the inspection station. They're bright, so they might not pay attention to the lack of DOT stamp on the lens. |

Nothing to changing them out. 5 minute job . Just take off the old ones, put new ones in the same way. You might have to change the little connectors to suit. Problem is: the lights you have selected are perhaps not the best available tool for the task. The reason: if you want real small cool looking directionals, (and who doesn't?), you are really much better off selecting a LED type unit, such as the above mentioned Kellers, or some cheaper ones from Shock, like the mini 6's I have on my Lightning. The ones you have selected are practically invisible during daylight, the LED type are about 10 times brighter. Problem with this solution: the LEDs do not present the proper load to the turn signal flasher, so the directionals blink too rapidly. Solution: either purchase a new #16086 turn signal flasher from American Sport bike, which just plugs right in in place of the stock unit, or wire a couple of 10 ohm wire wound resistors across both the right and left circuits. Any questions? PS: You do have the shop manual right? If not, you might just want to order one from Daves before taking your motorbicycle to pieces: it's very useful in getting it putting it all back together. |

I just ordered a pair of Shock Racing signals. They pack the signal full of LED's so you get a nice bright signal. I currently have the oval ones from LP with LED's in them - they SUCK. You cannot see the signals during the day. The Shock ones are going in as soon as they arrive. |

The kellermans are sick. Is 70 some dollars a piece the cheapest I am going to find them for? |

Try these. I have the clear ones with amber bulbs and they work/look fine. $20.00. They have two types of wiring. The ones with 3 wires are wrong. Get the ones with only two signal wires. They plug right in plenty of wire, no mods needed. Oh, if and you tip the bike you won't have to cry all the way to the store. http://www.chaparral-racing.com/Chaparral/product_family.asp?family%5Fid=10658&g ift=False&mscssid=0EA0D88577E8B4138944DC6B5C230F13 |

Sky -- I ran those signals for about a year -- I would suggest getting some extra lenses for em -- a couple of mine started shedding lenses (one front, and both rears) not a big deal, certainly, but it's good to have some spares around |

Do you guys use the plastic things that shock racing sells to make the blinkers flush/decrease the hole size in the fork for the front blinkers? |
