Well, you have the C3 group, but it is mainly based out of Goldsboro and draws members from quite a range here in NC. I know NRHD wants to start a BRAG group here in Jacksonville and that store is owned by the same ones there in Wilmington. They have asked me numerous times about starting one up. I have told them I will help support them, but because I'm leaving at the end of the year, I would not be there man to be the Director. |

they indicated that they had about 6 responses to a survey that they sent out I placed a notice at places here and yours has been the only response. I guess that theres not much interest here there are said to be about 6 buells in Wilmington.. I guess I may as well contact the 3C group and see about joining, I kinda liked " the port city street fighters " |

Having taken your survey and returned it in person, I have gone on line as well on the bad weather bikers, perhaps if there were some Buell related activities, it might help generate some interest and improve sales http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=4062&post=634485#POST 634485 Just a thought as a Bueller at times I feel just a little alieninated as one of the very few Buellers in the area, chrome and custom items do not appeal to me much, It would be nice to stop by and find a few, tee shirts, caps, riding gear, performance parts, and maintenance items perhaps invite the local buellers to a buell specific event or similar as a start, thanks in advance Jim Bryant AKA Oldog.. 2001 X1 .. This was sent to the local dealer |

Olddog -- C3 is a very informal group. Our current director is moving to IN and I'm not sure who is willing to take over. The group that you rode with last summer are the few from the eastern side of NC. NC is a hard geographic area to cover with limited numbers, such as Buells. Those posting on C3 are from Jacksonville, New Bern, Grifton (Greenville area), Raleigh, Fuquay Varina, Southern Pines area, Greensboro area and Pumpkin Center (mountain region). I've made contact with a new guy from Angier. I'm hoping he'll show up on C3 soon. Another is moving from CA to NC. Not all are "official" C3 Brag Members as much as they are part of C3 from BadWeb. Most communication is done here, not at the BRAG meetings. The planning for adventures and weekend rides is done here. Daytona, March Badness and now the C3 Jr. (parent/child) ride is being planned in the Adventure folder. Most of the guys try to find areas to ride and share the burden of driving to the other areas. The guys in the east like to head towards Jacksonville (Old Maple Hill) and hit the Fish Camp - just like last time. The folks that responded to the survey may not know that BadWeb even exists. Don't know how, but it's always possible. May want to see if the dealer can make contact with those that responded and give them your e-mail or info on BadWeb. You're always welcome on C3 regardless of what or if you are a member of an official BRAG Club. There is a group from SC also starting a BRAG Club and talking about a Border Meeting with NC and SC. Check out their thread on Storm Fronts. Hope to see you this summer. Happy Easter! Kristi |

Oldog - Are you the only badwebber from Wilmington? You're the only one I recall. It's my hometown, so you stick in my mind. To second what Kristi said, C3 is a BRAG chapter, but in reality Badweb plays a much larger role in the group than BRAG does. If you want a suggestion for finding local Buell riders, I'd talk to someone at your local dealership and ask if you can make a flyer with a link to badweb and post it in the dealership. Put a nice big Buell logo on it. Someone can make you your own group under Storm Fronts, or you can just link it to the C3 group. You can use tinyurl.com to condense the link down to something people can remember. You might only pick up a couple of people, but there isn't anything wrong with that. I've enjoyed C3 immensly, and if you look at the numbers, there really aren't that many of us. Oh, one thing to be sensitive to is that BRAG chapters are attached to dealerships. C3 is sponsored by Sheltons. Your local dealer may not be thrilled about the idea of promoting a competitors BRAG group. |

Speaking of putting something up, NRHD said that if C3 wanted to put something up in the store, they could. I know there are some other Buellers in Wilmingotn because one of them came up to NRHD and traded their CityX in for the Uly. There are a few Buellers around Jacksonville and Lejeune as well. If we can put something up in the store, it might draw some attention. I know it's asking a lot of the stores, because they have different owners, but I really think that they can work together to "share" a BRAG group and by doing so, they might draw more Buellers in and be able to create another BRAG group. |

Why not develop BRAG Clubs at each Buell dealer and then promote one or more Statewide Gatherings for weekend rides. Sure you get to support your sponsoring dealer with various activities and events that are focused on his market penetration with the Buell Line, but the amenities will most likely be worth it. Then you coordinate with the other BRAG Clubs both in and out of State for the larger events. Would be like having your own State and Regional Riding Rally's HOG does but without all the non-riding activities. Just a suggestion. |

That would be nice, but the problem is getting Buellers in the areas involved in BRAG. Right now there are only a few Buellers in each area. You have a few in the Goldsboro area, New Bern, Jacksonville, Raliegh, Charlotte, etc... Combined, you have enough that are participating to have one club. Getting one started and hitting the different dealers, promoting BRAG, hopefully we can get more members and then develop more BRAG chapters. |

As for promoting BRAG, we each do that whenever we're out and happen to run across another Buell. Pauletta has made up post cards and business cards so we can leave them on bikes that are parked or give to NC Buellers we meet along the way. I'll try and get them ready for the next meeting. Like Southern said, our numbers are few for our geographic region. Even though we have a long state, C3 seems to be catching most everyone within the borders. In fact, I've made contact with 3 or 4 new people on BadWeb that are not on C3 yet, but they have interest. The fact that they know we're here and have offered an invitation is a good start. To second what Kristi said, C3 is a BRAG chapter, but in reality Badweb plays a much larger role in the group than BRAG does. That has it said in one sentence. We are not a HOG Chapter and I'm not sure anyone really wants to head that direction (though I could be wrong). When the 3%er's know you are from the C3 group, I think that says a lot! We can always have C3 East, C3 West, C3 South/Central, etc. Kristi |

Outrider -- We are not a HOG Chapter and I'm not sure anyone really wants to head that direction (though I could be wrong). All I meant by this was that we are not at a point of even collecting dues, much less hosting or sponsoring charity events like a lot of the HOG Chapters do. While we participate in these events, we are so spread out and our attendance for meetings is sporadic at best. I meant no offense by this comment, only as a comparison. C3 is more of an informal riding group based out of BadWeb more than information shared at our "monthly" BRAG meetings. Kristi |

Not to hijack the thread, but Ray Price HD/Buell in Raleigh, NC is also looking to start a BRAG chapter. Last I checked they had 3 employees that own Buells and another salesman that's a Buell enthusiast. Also, the last three times I stopped by there was somebody there looking at Buells- one was filling out a credit app for an XB12R, one was really checking out a used M2, and the 3rd seemed very interested in a Ulysses and asking his own "pre-close" questions. I think they are lacking officers at the moment, but clearly they have the traffic to build up a decent sized group once they get their brag chapter started. |

Spike - Keep us posted. No one is opposed to having more than 1 BRAG club in NC. Just to date we all seem to be encountering the same hurdles. We're not sure who our new Director is going to be at this time. And again, we really don't do anything at the meetings that we don't do here on BadWeb. Kristi |

Latest: Excerpted from a responce to an earlier posting to the local dealer. It’s not looking too encouraging to say the least Ma’am If I may, in the past 3 years How many Buells have left the Wilmington Store and how many left the New River Store? I know that the shirts and gear are money that sits but it has to start some where The “Bueller” Night meetings won’t cost much because of small numbers, Suggestions A show room area called “Buells’ Corner” with all of your Buell related stuff [ I don’t want to go to new river hd to get a tee shirt. ] I purchased a set of the millennium side screens and a logo derby cover from CCHD they were not in site I happened to ask about them MEETINGS FOR BUELLERS Tire maintence Basic maintenance, changing lights, plugs, adjustments covered in the O.M. things to watch out for like change your brake fluid as required or expect probs (ask how I know) Get an FSM have a meeting explaining the value of being informed even if you don’t do it your self Demos of the Uly / or other Buells ( have a test ride date call the members in for sneak peaks ) Suspension inspection and set up Drive maintence and inspection How many Bronze oil pump drive gears have you sold? I installed one in my bike not too hard Ride event planning Did any one go to Daytona? I am planning to next year You may want to consider a sponsorship of the Buell enthusiast BBS Bad Weather Bikers, The most successful Buell dealers are represented there, and I believe that they do a brisk business from it, I trade with some of them I purchased a 150$ rain suit not to long ago You may want to notify your client community of your participation, most of the other V twin sites are more chopper or cruiser related this is buell specific and membership for The cyclists is free, it’s a good clearing house for info, Every once and a while it is Rumored that Erik Buell him self posts anonymously. Next to a Factory Shop Manual it is my essential Buell resource. Oh and the Wilmington // New river Bragg group, Port City Street Fighters ….. -----Original Message----- From: cchddm@aol.com [mailto:cchddm@aol.com] Sent: Wednesday, April 19, 2006 2:41 PM To: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Bragg chapter in wilmington Jim, I appreciate your efforts to raise awareness of Buell riders in Wilmington. I gave your email to our Motor Clothes Manager and let her know about the deficiency in that department. I am working with Adam to try and increase interest in starting a BRAGG group but without the numbers our hands are tied. I like your idea of a sport bike night at the shop and will suggest it to Adam and see if we can get a Buell specific event coordinated. Again thanks for all of your efforts!
