Maybe they used some Erik ideas but their bike really don't look good as a Buell! I don't like all those angles. The back and the front look very bad.... (Message edited by stou on April 15, 2006) |

That's a concept bike right now - the Venom - maybe late 07/08 model based on the superduke. Those KTM's are really nice bikes. They are styled to love or hate but they ride really nice and have the powertrain the Buell should have. Do a search for the KTM Duke write-up I did a while back and you'll know what I mean... |

Actually, it's not a concept KTM. It's in final road testing according to MCN this past week. Production version will be 1150cc, and easily capable of 175mph. Rocket |

Reminds me of the movie "Judge Dredd", kind of resembles their "hover bikes." |

Just 3 years ago KTM were viewed as a minor factory just making trail bikes on a small scale. Then thye introduced the RC8 concept bike and people sat up and started to take notice. Now look at them, the Superduke is an incredible machine that is not only a great road bike, but is taking the UK Sound of Thunder race scene by storm, beating Ducati 999/998's along the way. manufacturing quality and spec is stunning, and certainly embarrasses lots of major manufactures.
Their RC8 will see the light in 2007 with an updated 1150cc version of their own V-Twin, and will produce 170bhp in road trim! Anyone who underrates KTM these days is very unwise. Just look at their race success at GP level (Moto GP excepted). I think Buell should keep a close eye on KTM. |

I don't much care for the naked one at the top of the page, but KTM is certainly a brand to keep an eye on. My dad and my brother in law both picked up KTM off-road bikes earlier this year, one an '06 400EXC RFS, the other an '03 250EXC RFS. Both are very impressive machines. Japanese-like build quality with high end components everywhere. If/When KTM decides to get serious with the street market expect them to grow rapidly. |

I think KTM has and will continue to do an excellent job with their street/race oriented bikes. Like the styling, and great words the media presents 99% of the time. However, it is the remaining 1% that scares me off and that has to do with maintenance requirements and costs. Yikes!!! After that type of comparo, Buell's are still a bargain and get even better when you factor in the cost and availability of replacement parts. |

The SuperDuke was voted #2 (GSXR was #1) in the BOTY awards over here in 2005. I think their 950 SuperMotard also placed around 6th from memory. |

The only problem I have heard of associated with the SuperDuke is that it gets terrible gas mileage, thus yielding a very short range (think Honda Superhawk). It is supposed to get 32 mpg if you drive it lightly, my guess is more like 24 if you have a twitchy wrist. In my opinion, that is just plain unacceptable in a two-wheeler, which is another reason Buells Rock! |
