Just paid $2.99 9/10 at the pump this morning for 87 octane. Looks like it's going to be an expensive summer w/ gas prices already heading over $3.00. How much are the current prices in your area? Sonoma, CA Reg. 2.99 Mid. 3.09 High 3.19 bryan |

We gladly paid $3.25 a gallon for 89 octane in 2004 just outside the entrance to Canyonlands National Park. We were on reserve and at least 60 miles in any direction from another gas pump thanks to Ferris going so fast I couldn't catch him but, that was the first time I paid over three bucks. It's real close here in Indiana now. I've seen places at $2.89 for 87 octane. |

Jb2 - Don't get me wrong, I've paid more for gas when my wife and I have been on road trips out in the middle of nowhere - Mojave desert area. I expect to pay premium prices for the privelege of having a station there at that time, but this is the first time this range of prices has come to my home - a major metropolitan area. I'm not paying anything extra for convenience at these pumps. This sucks. |

Since our President is in the oil business the chance of a price reduction is the same as Hell freezing over. Nobody should be allowed to hold office if their business interests intertwine with Government policy. Oh wait it is supply and demand. What was I thinking? Exxon\Mobile profits of 10 billion a quarter (A 75% increase) on the average. Shell is at about 9 bil. Lets start using corn and let the oil companies keep their oil. We can make the farmers rich. How about we all go to one oil company for our gas? Lets say we all choose Citgo? I wonder if this could force Mobile to drop prices? Mike |

I've been waiting for this thread to develop. WHY are we (the general public) allowing this?? Um oh I know its politics.... Has YOUR wages gone up 75%, have your checked your grocery bill lately? Hmm the White House HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING!!!! So exactly what did the idiot in the White House sign last year in New Mexico, a bill to give his oil buddies cart blanche??? THIS got me started, sorry just had to vent, I like to know a reason. I know we need to conserve but someone's predessor RELAXED the EPA mileage requirements, and lets see didn't we split up the telecommunications industry, and NOW they are joining back together. IT STINKS!! (sorry Blake I've had a long day.....) Back to our Buell motorcycle forum....... |

Mfell2112 I go to Citgo whenever possible. Coolice Yes it stinks. I should have gone to Harvard/Yale and joined all the right boys clubs. Then I could screw over everyone not in the club. Oh wait, nevermind I could never sleep at night if I ran things the way they are being run. Having a conscience sucks. |

Nobody should be allowed to hold office if their business interests intertwine with Government policy. We'd have to fire all elected officials if we wanted to do that. Guess who gives them money to run for office? |

Might be time for another Revolution. If I recall I think it was Ben Franklin who said a revolution every now and then was good for a country in that it keeps things honest. |

Balls is what made this country, now we are mostly a nation of BIG mouths with NO balls, ultra high tech weapons and guys wearing sheets kicking the crap out of us. "Speak softly and carry a big stick", where are those kinda guys now? Three bucks a gallon? It's only the beginning unless WE as a people stop it, the greedy few won't. |

Imagine what would happen if 30% of Americans stood up and refused to pay taxes until gas was brought down to a reasonable level. Or until the borders wee closed. Or until outsourcing was stopped. Or until Haliburton had to bid for contracts. ETC. ETC. ETC. We could march in the streets to show our solidarity. One thing I have to give the illegal immigrants credit for is their solidarity. They had more and larger marches and demonstrations than either the pro-war or anti-war groups. |

gentle men may i remind you that you are leaving written words on an electronic public forum, these agencies will happily use this against you under the right circumstaces. it sucks for sure, bush is in his last term dont like it VOTE Me I am listening what are the canadates saying as opposed to what the talking heads are saying, [ the media should be restricted to printing only the proven truth rather than the wild speculative crap that they spew ] I do like the idea of the "middle class" standing up in one voice demanding an accounting of this and other things also some choice in these matters. Join me I'm voting with my wallet now, 3 to 4 days a week the buell is ridden to work the tank of gas in my truck will last 3 to 4 weeks this way whos got who? groceries and laundry are the only trips ( i drive on rainy days too ) i save 1 to 2 tanks of gas each month, multiply that by every household in the usa WHOS GOT WHO? no laws broken no violence, in one voice This is TOO Much for your product I will find some thing else to use.. those who suggest lawlessness as a means to bring about change I point out the current situation in Iraq does that work? while im on the rant <GRIN> riding dangerous?, get caught causing or being in an accident with the telly jammed in your ear [ 30 days no drive ] be at fault hitting a bike or causing an accident with a bike and you are in a cage 6 mos no drive a cage, single parent limited driving only, big fine & criminal record riding gets safer more folks ride gas usage goes down demand goes down. me I realy dont want to see a lot of battery powered cars batteries dont recycle too well, bio fuels, and hydrogen from water seem like a good idea to me. premium 3.09 gal mid 2.89 gal reg 2.79 gal better start paying attention at the grocery too. Glitch- Yeah, it's just the personal observation from my 30 minute ride in my area. I didn't mean that I was the only one in the US that rides a bike commuting. I really get irked by all the big pickups and SUVs being driven for commuting. I think that one of the biggest problems is that people don't want to change their habits and save a little gas. I ride my bicycle as much as possible so I can ride on the frivolous trips when I want to. When I was younger and closer to work I bicycled 3,000 miles each year to work and meetings. I rode the motorcyle much of the rest of the time when weather permitted. Other than that we need more refineries and to drill in ANWAR. (for my political input). Otherwise don't blame the current administration. p.s. CITGO is owned by the Venezualan goverment (if you want to support another despot). |

Exxon posted a record setting profit of 36.13 Billion dollars in 05 with their CEO Lee Raymond being paid more than 400 million and was paid more than 686 million from 1993 to 2005. Ray Irani ceo of Occidental petroleum was paid 63 million in 05 and david O'reilly Ceo of Chevron was paid 37 million. These numbers came from a New York times article which was posted on 4-15-06 written by Jad Mouawad. The problem is that Katrina was used as an excuse to see what the american public will pay and since no massive protests or boycotts took place. They now figure it is ok to set that price as the norm, while all the while raking in millions and billions in profit. I agree with skyguy, until the average american decides for a real response we will keep getting shafted. It is the average americans fault as much as the oil producers for putting up with, because big business will keep selling if everyone is willing to pay and the market will bear it. |

Indy, I happen to think our current democracy is a farce. I would prefer a benevolent dictator whos' policies are not run through thousands of special intrest groups. Imagine this. Borders closed! Welfare recipients pick the produce. War? Brutal and over quickly. Convicted murderers? Dead. Child molestors? Dead. Gang members? hunted down and dead. Flat tax on net income. A truly well intentioned dictator could make solid decisions for the good of the whole. Go ahead and flame me now as I am sure many folks could find reason to argue my points. like say maybe the ACLU............... P.S. Blake I am not trying to be divisive. |

Well I have a dime's worth of openion here. For a long time the 2 party system was just great. It worked fine, but for the last 20 or so yr's each party has put thier agenda a head of the American people. As far as I am corcerned they need to be did a way with and a canadate just run on his or her own meriet. I will not blame any one party nor do I thank any one who is thinking stright can eather. |
