Had a quick question for you guys (and girls) on riding gloves. I just got a pair of Alpinestar SP-1 leather gloves. My question is they feel a little tight, do they wear in? There is a little material at the finger tips so I guess the size is ok. Any tips on breaking them in. Should I just put em on and ride. | ||

Depending on the thickenss of the leather, it will stretch to an extent. Most leather riding gloves are a thicker material, so stretching can occur, but it's not alot. Anytime I am looking at gloves, I put them on and then get on my bike or a show room bike to see how they fit when I am holding onto the grips. | ||

I bought a pair of Alpinstar racing gloves. After I bought them, I found out they run about a size smaller than standard. Rather a pain, and slightly surprising since their boots, which I also bought, seem to run just a bit large. If I were you, I might think about exchanging them for a larger size, if possible. | ||

if you take them and soak them in water overnight they will get very soft. then while they are wet, put them on and go for a ride and leave them on untill they are at least 90% dry. this will streach them out and form them to the shape of your hand. do it on a nice warm day and go for a nice long ride. it's like instant break-in. i have never done this with leather gloves but i have done this several times with other leather products and it has always worked out very well. baseball gloves, and boots mainly. anyone else ever done this? i can't be the first. my grandfather and dad both did it also. | ||

Elk also stretches over time, and is highly tear resistant -- Aerostich carries em in a number of styles, and pretty affordable, too | ||

Taxman...that is how I break in new Birkenstocks...Shortens the life of them, but they are ALWAYS more comfortable... |
