Kevin has upgraded the regular Drummer conversion mufflers to include some of the technology learned on the new Drummer SS. The original style Drummer will no longer be available. The new Drummer conversion will include a machined billet rear end cap similar to the SS including the engraved Drummer logo. I hope to have some pictures to post soon. The price remains the same at $400 plus your stock can. www.kdfab.com (I'll update the website next week some time) |

BTW, is the fatlet still going to be there? That's the best feature of the original, i think. |

Kevin Can the billet end cap be rotated for the output of exhaust to be put on either side of the bike. I hope this makes sense. Also when can we order this newer style pipe. One more thing what is the estimated time of orders on the pipe. Thanks |

Peanut, I'll do the old mod with the fatlet on a special order basis, it will cost more because I want to start new production asap so call and let me know before ordering one, I hope to have some of the new ones in stock...... takes alot of time and materials to keep up with the growing orders plus this new cap design is the shiznit....I'll have pics to the jerseyguy this evening.... I hope to have pics of the CF Drummer SS today also and will start testing this one soon.... Chain tensioner and billet sprocket cover pics soon also....I'm going to sell the adjustable tensioner and all the spacers and sprocket cover and you guys can pick where you want to get the sprockets and chain, that way if you can get a better deal on that stuff then go for it.....I'll have pricing on all this stuff in a week or so..... Bigbuell, no rotation at this time but that will be a big expense to get one or 2 of those but will be thought about over time.....right now I'm soooo busy and things are going as planned..... Well I am pretty sure my can was the last one with the original design, it was shipped Wed. That was the same day the new end caps came in bummer, thats just the kinda luck I have! Its just cosmetic though I know I will like the regular pipe, I just hope its here for the weekend. |

Is there much weight difference from stock? It would cost a fortune to send my stock exhaust from Canada. I am not convinced my Jardine is for me, Hope the Drummer is quiter than the Jardine! Sweet looking exhaust Kevin! (Message edited by bake on April 13, 2006) |

Kevin, What's the cost to buy one of the new redesigned pipes outright? I'd like to keep all of the stock parts available so I can switch it back if/when the time comes. Thanks for the info! |

I know this is a dumb question, and excuse my ignorance as I'm not trying to incite, but is it legal to alter a manufacturer's item (Buell's exhaust) and then sell it under your name? Just curious... |

Maybe it would be illegal if he tried to claim that he engineered the whole thing? I don't know. I would imagine that HD/B would have to be the one to press charges though. Probably a subject for a different thread though anyway. |

Bubabuell, I can't believe you even think like that...people have been modifying things since rocks were formed...look around your home, everything in it is a modified version of somebodies something, even the paper you write on, it's modified trees so you will have a job and be able to feed your family.....if I put an emblem on a stock unmodified muffler and sold it, I think we would have a problem.... Relax, man. I was just "curiuos" as I said. Though as there is a patent on the Buell exhaust and as they have altered it and slapped a Drummer tag on it, then according to US patent law there IS a problem. You can't do that. Simple. Can you tear apart a new Buick and rebuild it and sell it under a new name? No. Can you build your own car from scratch similar to the Buick? Yes. |

Buba, it doesn't particularly matter because it seems like everyone will have the SS or CF before long. If you notice the Drummer trend is continually more toward a single unit of production. Kevin has a good mind for this sort of thing and knows where to give credit when it is due. Just ask him if there is anything wrong with the Buell header. Kevin it seems you hooked up with the right guy in Jersey and I'd like to thank both of you for building downhome products for us. Kind of like moonshine! NUTS |

Kev doesn't put his name on the muffler, per se, he puts his name on the end-cap that goes on the muffler. Besides, Saleen Mustangs say "Saleen" all over them. There is no patent infringement, Buell got their piece of the pie for every muffler that becomes a drummer. If he started a new operation to produce exact knock-offs that would a be a different story. Modification is not a patent violation. |

Buba, I'm pretty sure the patent is expired. And people do tear apart cars and modify them to sell them with their name on it. They're called street rods. Or look at the number of choppers available today with someones name on them. Some of those are built from Harleys. I think it would be different if he was claiming he built the mufflers from scratch and hadn't modified them. |

Bubabuell, What Microchop said. I'm no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure anyone can purchase just about anything and resell it even in the exact form in which they bought it let alone in a highly modified form. The thing you seem to be forgetting is that someone already bought the thing from the patent owning manufacturer, thus the mfgr done got paid, which is what patents are all about, ensuring that the originator gets paid. If modifying and reselling stuff were a nono, there would be a LOT of businesses in this country that would be in big trouble. Pretty sure the Drummer is clearly advertised as a modified stock muffler. Do you imagine it is illegal to modify stuff? That would be silly, huh. |

I can tell you now from knowing a GM lawyer that someone from HD and Buell monitor these sites and look for just that sort of thing. |

Kevin those mufflers look sweet, especially that carbon fiber. I wish I had the money to do this mod. Oh well, maybe one day. Will the lower chin fairing fit with the carbon fiber? |
