I am still getting used to my XB. Now I know I am idiot for waiting this long to check... But.. I checked the tire pressure last night. The dealer had it set at 22front, 26 Rear. Lets just say that now that the tire pressure is correct it is a whole new ride.. I know, flame on for not doing it right away, I have my asbestos underwear on today. I just figured the dealer would have had that set right? On a side note, are HD's normally set that low? | ||

the tire pressure on my bike can change by a degree or two depending on the outside temp and if my tires have warmed up yet. i check my tire pressure almost every time i go to ride. if they are on the low side i ride ten minutes to a gas station with a air hose and re-check them. if they still need air i fill em. i have noticed a big difference in cornering AND breaking when my tire pressure is wrong | ||

On a side note, are HD's normally set that low? No. My Sporty is 36/38. Assuming the bigger, heavier bikes are running similar pressures. | ||

Good catch Doon! I like what Taxman does with his pre-ride check out. Tire wear will become a real issue with improperly inflated tires! I like to check my bike out at the end of a ride when I am wiping the road dust off. oil level, air pressure, excessive tire wear, I even check the fairing bolts to see if they survived (I have lost a couple, probably my fault for not tightening them enough). I don't like to put my bike away wet (horse term). | ||

This seems to be a trend with H-D dealers and Buells. I have not met one person who bought a Buell from H_D and had the tires at the correct psi. Also, make sure you check the suspension. That is waaaaaaay off from factory too and is another make it or break it item with handling. | ||

when i bought my bike from northwoods HD/Buell (sadly no longer Buell) they said that my tires were set to spec and asked if i wanted them set any other way. this being my first bike i went along with what they said. they also asked me my weight so they could properly set my suspension. since i didn't have my motorcycle license yet they delivered it to my door along with some swag. a deals gap t-shirt, some kickstand pucks, a duffel bag, coffee mug, and other stuff. the mechanic that i like isn't there anymore. and i haven't been there since he left. i'm hoping the new one is buell friendly. if they aren't i'm not sure what i'll do. i'm not mechanicaly inclined and the only other dealer in the area (sort of) is, in my opinion less buell knowledgeable than my 8 year old son. | ||

Yeah I am still working on the suspension. Mine wasn't set, but I can read the manual and think I have it pretty close. Couple more runs up through the mountains here to check the settings and I will be good to go. | ||

Just reinforce that, the tire pressures on the new 05 Lightning I bought last weekend were under 25psi front/rear when I checked it after the ride home from the dealer. Suspension was also not set. It was like a different bike after I adjusted both to specs. | ||

Bigwagon, If you got that where I think you got that bike, they should know better. I test rode a CityX they had in stock last fall and the front tire was near flat from sitting so we took out a different one which was in desparate need to be run-in a bit to reset the f.i. system on it. It started running better about the time the test ride was over. Real hard to sell a bike that doesn't run right or isn't set up right. | ||

i didnt check mine either.. I had adjusted the bars, levers & shifter etc. I went to a closer dealer for a service and the tech there said the front was 22psi...  | ||
