Ok fellow bad weather webbers need some advice/help. I want a new exhaust but I really don't want to mess with the ECM and so forth so here is what I want. If you were choosing between the Race exhaust and the Jardine what would you choose? I like the stock sound but I want something that is louder but still has the deep rumble. I may go with a K/N air filter as well.. So thats my choice right now but wanted to see if anyone had a sound clip of the 2.. Jardine just has the sound for the CBR600's.. I know this has been posted but I don't think its been between these two pipes.. Thanks |

First off, you should have the race ecm with either pipe. Or have your ecm re-mapped. Then, on to the pipes. I sell both but I do have a preference Buell race muffler Designed for your bike and only your bike Keep your jacking points to lift the bike Good sound No repacking needed, EVER More expensive Built in brackets for the chin fairing Silver Ceramic muffler Badweb price 323.96 Polished Ceramic muffler Badweb price 356.36 These mufflers are no longer going to be made so if you want one act fast! Jardine Louder Cheaper no jacking points lighter(not always a good thing on a Buell muffler) Extra brackets for the chin fairing Universal muffler, not specifically designed for your bike needs repacked Jardine Badweb price 238.50 |

Get a Drummer. It's way lighter than a stock can and it works better that the race pipe or the Jardine. It's also way more robust than the Jardine. |

Good point I guess I kept my reply to the question he asked but the Drummer is an excellent choice too. Still need the race ecm |

I have a Jardine, K&N and the open airbox conversion on my 12R, and I really like it. I haven't picked up the race ECM or gotten my stocker remapped yet, and it runs well. There is quite a bit of poping on decel, but not to bad. I want to get the directlink for it, but I'm pretty short on funding. I am on my second Jardine because the bike isn't running at the optimum setting. My first one pulled through the rivets at the front of the pipe, and then I just bought a friends extra one from him for cheap. If you don't want the pipe to pull apart like mine did you need to get the race ECM or the directlink and check the packing periodically. |

Between the Jardine and the Buell race muffler I prefer the Buell one I know it's 100.00 more but the repacking thing makes that an easy choice for me. Plus I like to be able to jack my bikes up on a bike jack. I have never had a Buell race muffler break in any way. |

That is the way I am leaning but don't I have to get the RACE ECM if I go that route? Or will I be ok since it's a slip on? |

I am currently running a stock muffler that I modified, and I like it. I had the Jardine previously, and thought that at cruising speed or start from a stop it didn't sound very good. To my ear it sounded close to a blast with WileyCo pipe that is by my in-laws. Top end the Jardine was a screamer. But I opted to midify my stock pipe to regain the jack points. I would choose the Buell muffler. |

I've had a bunch of mufflers, and I keep going back to the Buell Race, personal preference, good performance, without being over-loud. A word of advice, don't change exhaust, without changing the ECM. |

THat is what I was afraid of Glitch.. I didn't want to spend that much cash at the moment.. I know on my Sportster I used to have I could put slip on pipes on and didn't have to worry about anything. I was hoping the Buells were the same. But if not I will just wait.. |

You need to change the ecm no matter what exhaust you choose On your old sporty you should've been re jetting it for the pipes too |

Not to get too far off topic... I *think* the reason the XB is more susceptible to damage is because of the higher compression ratio compared to the Sportster. |

A good friend mentioned this to me.......you dont want to be too loud, it draws attention to you. have you ever flew past a cop and wondered if he was going to pull you over for speeding? If you had a loud a** exhaust he would hear you coming from a mile away and for sure stick his radar out the window and hand you a ticket. With a quit (quiter) exhaust you are little more incongnito. With the Buell exhaust, it looks stock. With EPA regulations and weird emission laws, not to mention sound ordinances, it pays to have after market products that look stock. Why, because it might be a little easier to tell the cop, "hey man, I know its loud, but it is stock equipment". Go with the Buell stuff. Its more expensive. But, it will give the extra perfromance and sound with out being too over the top. |

What about the old saying, "Loud Pipes save lives". I know for a fact my exhaust has scared a few deer, and sent them running as far away from my bike a possible. Also, stupid motorists trying to talk on the phone, eat thier breakfast, and drive, tend to take more notice of you when your loud enough to set off car alarms. This really isnt the reason I have a louder pipe, I just like like the sound. |

400 Bones.. for Drummer.. I am not worried about the Cost of Jardine vs Buell race.. I just didnt' want to spend another 200 on the ECM.. I may have to wait.. Could I get the stock ECM remapped? Would that work? |

Could I get the stock ECM remapped? Would that work? That would absolutely work. More expensive though, lots of dyno time involved, unless Al at American SportBike has one pre-programmed, or Daves at Appleton, both are sponsors here. If you re-map an ECM for the Buell Race, you'd end up with a Race ECM though, not sure of the cost. They may already have one for the Jardine. |

Sorry I am new to this.. So if I buy the Buell Pipe (that is what I am leaning toward) I would just need to buy the Race ECM and it would be a plug and Play so of thing? Already set up for the Race can.. However if I purchase pipe and re-map stock ECM (If someone has map) the I would basically have the same thing?? If someone has the map for this why don't more people just re map the stock ECM? I would think that would cost less than 200 bucks on top of the labor to have the Dealer Reset the TPS and/or AFV.. ?? Too many decisions an obviously I am trying to save a few bucks and labor time at the dealer.. |

Best bang for the buck (IMHO) Buell Race Kit (Buell Pipe-Air Filter-Race ECM) All then you would need is the new ECM reset. Put your stock parts on e-bay. If you go too cheap, you'll get cheap results, or worse. |

The Buell muffler is excellent quality. Very sturdy (still a jack point for the bike), ceramic coated, and sounds nice too. |

To remap the stock ECM you need the directlink system from Al or Dave. It allows you to get in to the ECM and use the key supplied with the kit to remap to the best Air/Fuel mixtures. I'm not sure if the sponsors are down with it or not, but some of my friends have tossed around splitting the directlink and purchasing the $90 keys on our own. where are you buying the keys for 90.00? I know my cost is waaay more than that. You would also need access to a dyno to make your maps |
