Looked in the KV and couldn't find the answer so I thought I'd ask here. Looking at the Wileyco exhausts I see they have listed an X1 application for the 99 - 00 and another for the 01 - 02 versions. I'm needing to replace a failed (the front tab came off and pulled part of the pipe along with it) V&H setup. Good deals on Evilbay for the 01 -02 setup. V&H uses the same pipe for all the X1 models. I need to know if the Wileyco for the 01 - 02 would fit my 99. Has anyone tried this?? |

My reply to your other post in the other thread: WileyCo updated the hanger and front end of their cans, the newer one requires the use of the updated Buell exhaust isolator Y-mount and regulator plate associated with it. I"m not sure what their web site says though. I've got an updated WileyCo exhaust to replace my broken old-style one for the '00 M2 and I got a used Y-mount from someone on the site here, but I haven't had the time to put them on the bike yet so I don't know firsthand how well it'll all fit. |

I bought one of those Wileyco's from Evilbay, and it said that I would need the updated front. It will fit with the older front mount, but it is worth it to get the newer updated "y" mount. You will also need the stock rear Z bracket as the plate from your V&H will not work. Your best bet is to buy the whole Hanger kit from Buell or Al at American Sport Bike, and not do like I did and get the 3 main parts separately (cost was much more, and I still had to go buy hardware). |

I too am considering the WileyCo can for my 2002 X1. How do they sound? I am looking for a little more rumble without annoying the neighbors. Also, any performance benefits with a stock intake setup with the exception of a K&N? |

I've got one on a 97 S1, I've had great luck with it. I've got about 15,000 miles on it, no cracks, or repacking it as of yet. I think it's a little quiet idling, but I let a freind ride it and I listened, and think it sounds great. Mine is just the aluminium one. Dean |

There is a somewhat mandatory repacking requirement from the WileyCo people, somewhere between 1,000-5,000 miles. I was told mine cracked at the mounts because it's packing was blown out which led to vibration and then the cracked mounts on the old style system. The only reason I haven't installed the new one yet is because I don't want to have to repack or open it up to check it every 1,000 miles or so. YMMV. |

I agree its a bit quiet at idle. Felix has one on his X1...nice mellow sound... When you get on it though, it rumbles..again, not loud liek a D&D or Force..but you know the bike is there.. Nice sounding pipe.. Chase |

I've had my CF Wileyco for about -- er, um, 20K miles or so -- mebbe a lil longer -- difficult to desribe a sound, but certainly more of an aural presence, and I can ghost down the driveway at Oh-Dark-Thirty without waking anyone up no repack as yet, but prolly due |

My Wileyco is much quieter than my old V&H. But then again I was way past due to get the V&H repacked. |

Opened up the V&H and the packing is totally gone. The baffle is pretty much shot as well. If I can get that fixed I'm sure it should be much quieter. |

Can anyone recommend a stealthy performance muffler for an X1 that will match up with a K&N Filter in a gutted air box? Am getting a little miffed with announcing myself to the LEO's before I even get there. Not good for the license, if you get my drift. |

Bomber...You makin' fun of me??? The few Wileyco's I heard were kinda loud compared to my V&H, which I think needs repacking and am not looking forward to doing. Then, I am so deaf, I really can't tell the difference and probably should hire a Motorcycle Muffler Consultant. Ewww...what I would give for a db rating on the performance pipes. All I want is something quiet that will go with my race ecm and gutted air box. |

for the hell of it I would like to hear more info on the EBAY wileyco systems. I contacted wileyco about them and they said they are the discontinued model and so I assume the ones with the front mount that wants to break, as I understand even with the new Y mount. SO Id like to hear some hands on reviews about these ebay systems. The new version BTW at thier website comes with enough trinkets to turn you into a liveing commercial and from what I heard those are a much improved product, However I think esomeone could reinforce these discontinued models and be good... What ya think? |

I have one of those Evilbay Wileyco systems on my X-1. So far all seems good to go. The box came will all of the Wileyco trinkets (hat, stickers, keychain, propaganda) and was in the original packaging with the Warranty info. I know it is discontinued, but with the new mount mine seems really supported and doesn't vibrate in the new "Y" mount like my old V&H did. Time will tell if it breaks, but I got it out of necessity of the V&H breaking over spending tons of money on a new can. |

I think esomeone could reinforce these discontinued models and be good... What ya think? I had the bracket welded back on my pipe and they added a reinforcement. Only way this would break is if the bike is dropped off a cliff. So it could be done. I'm halfway thinking of getting a good stainless 2 1/2" elbow and having a flange welded on so I can use a 'generic' muffler. |

I have one of the ebay wileyco's. I put about 13K on it before a exhaust stud vibrated loose (the upper isolator had torn). When I put the pipe back on, I couldn't line up the front mount so I left it with some pressure on it. Sure enough about 800 miles later it broke. Wileyco won't waranty the ebay stuff, they tell you to take it to a dealer. I bought another (around 275 for the both with ship) and I've got about 1500 on this one. Just make sure you don't have the bolt that goes in the Y mount gets tightened last and that it slides through the mount easily. Anybody know where to get the old style front pipe? Then I'd have a backup. Noise wise its great at low rpm its deep and bassy but tolerable, at wfo its pretty loud. You need to ride to the left of a Buell with one mounted to get the range of sounds. |

I've an all stainless steel Wileyco muffler on my '00 X1 since 18500 miles now. Of course, it's the "old style" front pipe design and I never had any problem with front tab, using the old "single arm" front mount or now, the newer Y-mount. It is perfectly compatible with both models... The only complaint I would have is the fact that, with a 2.5" header, the inlet is restricted when entering the can itself. I mean, the inlet diameter on the can is not different when ordering a muffler for a 2" (European)or a 2.5" header, it's the header to can link which changes... Regarding "noise", it's slightly quieter than the V&H was on my '98 S1. For the "sound", I preferred the one of the V&H, the Wileyco sounds more "HD" IMHO. Now for repacking...well, I suppose it depends on how you use the bike but when, at 12500 miles, I opened it to repack, frankly, it was like new inside ! This was NOT the case with the V&H which needed to be repacked frequently. It's a question of taste but I think that it's a good can which is reliable, not expensive especially with a lifetime warranty and fits nicely the X1. Michel. |

I bought one of the ebay Wileyco titanium cans for my 2000 S3T about 3000 miles ago and have been very happy. It is loud at cruising speed (80), but I wear ear plugs all the time anyway. Love the sound and it makes my UJM friends jealous. Also makes the guys at the HD store look and ask what it is. Dave |
