Wow! I would almost move that out of the "scuffing" arena and into the "partial seize" arena. I hate to say it but.....What Pam said. Listen to her closely. She speaks the truth and can back it up. BN |

A decent shop would do a check(somewhat similar to your own) for free. Cycle Rama would anyway. The only thing is....to be absolutely, beyond a shadow of a doubt, 100%, positive that everything is perfect in the crank/rod assembly, you need to tear the whole thing apart. The valves touching the piston issue is serious. You definately need to get that addressed ASAP. You need to get your timing and or jetting issues taken care of right away as well. I hope you get things sorted out and everything goes well. |

Thanks to all who have helped me with this problem. Pammy, what kind of price range are we looking at to get a 1250 kit (nikasil) from you. I tried looking on your site and didn't see it. Blake, I'm not trying to go with non-site sponsors. I just look at what everybody else has done to theirs (i.e. their profile). Just going off of word of mouth, I guess. I am truly one to support those who help and support us. I also, have to go with the best price. I am in the military and money definitely doesn't grow on trees at our house. I hope I haven't offended anyone. I was just unaware. |

What about the heads? If the valve hit them the guides might be wacked? At least your rods look strait. Rods CANNOT have up and down movement, thats what makes the piston hit valves and blow up. Looks like cold siezure to me, gota let it warm up some before you go beating on it. I would have loved to know what the cyl pressure check was at. (Message edited by mmmi_grad on April 03, 2006) |

Chasespeed, good luck in corpus christi. Enjoy the riding weather. Lots of heat, you might want to invest in a good oil cooler. |

I'm betting Pammy will want you to send 'em the heads so she and Wes can look 'em over and ensure that they are okay. Hope I'm not off base by saying that. |

Pammy, just so everyone knows, Cycle Rama is a real class act. Between talking with you and dealing with Blake and others on this site, you've won my business and loyalty. I look forward to doing business in the future with you. To the guys here on Bad Weather, thanks for the knowledge, insight., and steering me in the right direction. Lessons learned and applied. |

Chase and Stric, You guys are respected and appreciated for doing it. You have the respect and understanding of anyone that has been there and done one, two, four, ten, or twenty years. To me, some of the best rewards came later. Jack (Navy '64-'90) |

Chase, if I could swing it, I certainly would. Alas, one good deed a year is all I can afford. Our regular everyday prices are not bad. A price increase is in the future, but we hold off as long as we can. Ding Dang insurances and taxes eat us alive. Believe me, Honey, I fully realize your plight. Being an Army brat, my own bad self, I have experienced your economic predicament first hand (there was 5 of us kids). If there is anything I can do for any of you, give me a call. Can't hurt(over the phone anyway, hee hee). |

Pammy, thank you darlin, but, like I said, I was kidding. It went to someone who needs it. That's more important.... Maybe this year, when I get my annual installment of my SRB, I can trailer the bike up there to ya'll, put the goodies in, adn tune it....will call ya about it later this year... Jack, again, thank you sir... Chase |
