Guys like Leno don't get to me. I always see him as purchasing what he wants. Not one of the deals where the people that have loads of money are given things that are absolutely unobtainable at any price for publicity purposes even though they don't always want th item, and certainly don't appreciate it. Meanwhile the average guy/girl has to make the big sacrifices to get what they want. while living on less than these celebrities spend on their weekly bar tab. |

Ok then, we're all in agreement here. Money CAN and DOES buy you stuff. What a radical concept!!?? Nothing to do with celebrity and being "somebody" Hell, I even know celebrities who will spend more than $50 on a dinner out - REALLY - I'm not making it up!! The rest of us have to be satisfied with a drive-through or cooking at home. Welcome to my planet! |

Why don't you quit being such a jerk dude? I have plenty of celebrity friends so you don't need to explain to me the intricacies of money where they're concerned thank you. Again, my point has absolutely nothing to do with the comments (in an effort to cause argument it seems) you're blatting on about. Please do me a favour, either re read my posts and say something constructive or pissoff and argue with someone else. Rocket |

M1, Ditto on your post regarding useable features besides excessive HP. It's what Erik's bikes are built for. Key phrase: Useable Features. |

Celebrities do not impress me ususally. What really impresses me is what's cooking on the barbecue. That's what impresses me. FWIW, my X1 is more desirable to me than anything Leno could buy IMO. But stock isn't good enough (not being judgemental, just hang with me on this) when you have to have exotic as a personalization device. I think as a celebrity though, Jay's pretty cool. |

But if you kill your cat with chocolate, will it be flavored like that when you cook it? Maybe this is the way to get wives to get rid of the pesky critters. "I know you love Fluffy, but imagine Fluffy as a solid chocolate treat, honey." |

One point that some people aren't thinking. Hals WONT build a bike like Jay's for just anyone. If you don't have a race license, forget it... But with the new direct link, it may be possible. |

Rocket sez: "One more thing. For $40,000 why would I go to Hals, or anyone else's for that matter? I'd build my own thanks very much. Rocket" Really? Do you think it would be all that easy? Hals has years of experience and testing in their racebikes, and it would take a rocket scientist to duplicate it...oopps, I guess you are, huh? |

What is it with some people and this internet thing? What do you really know about me or what I'm capable of? Just because it doesn't say race bike builder above my door, or in my profile, you think I'm not capable of building one? That's your problem not mine. It says 'Saab Workshop' above my door. That's because I'm in the automotive business too, and there isn't a damn thing I can't or couldn't do, and with $40,000 I could do a lot where a motorcycle is concerned. Who the hell are Hal's that makes them any better than me? You don't know a damn thing about me, nor Hal's other than what you've heard probably. So Hal's have a reputation for race built Buells. Would that be one guy or several, as in a team? What skills do they have that I don't? What can they get their hands on that I can't? Whose services can they use that I can't? Buells own? Big deal. You think I couldn't build a competitive race Buell without factory help? Think again. Isn't that what your hero EB did, or try, back in the 80's? Gimme the 40k and you shall have. Rocket |

Who the hell are Hal's that makes them any better than me? Well, where to begin with that one.... Take a look at the pictures of the XBRR development. Buell chose to involve Hals. Why do you think that is? Mr. Buell himself chose to use Hals for his own personal scoot. Bought a XB9 CityX from Hals(Yes, it was funny seeing the SOLD TO: E. Buell tag on the handlebar.) Then rolled it back to their speed shop to do <cough> modifications. Why do you think Mr. Buell himself chose to use Hals? You think I couldn't build a competitive race Buell without factory help? With all due respect Rocket, no, I don't think you could. It all boils down to experience. And Hals is probably the most respected teams in Buell racing. They are also some of the nicest guys IMHO. But I'm a bit biased, being part of Hals BRAG group. |

>>>Who the hell are Hal's that makes them any better than me? My comments are going to sound pretty redundant. I've never done much business with Hal's but I know many folks who have. Hal's has been, and for a long time, a very respected and reputable member of the Buell community. I think most of this discussion is idle chest-puff but to the degree it may reflect on Hal's, I think it's essential to point out that one thing that sets Hal's apart is that whilst many have "talked", they have been DOING, and doing well, for years. I'm a huge fan of doing having spent years listening to folks tell me what they'd do *IF* they:
- Started their own motorcycle company
- Raced
- Built engines
- Whatever
Choose one. The Hanlon Brothers talked alot about how easy it all looked and how wise and worldly they were in the world of motorcycles. I was quoted in 1995 and stand by it today. . . running a motorcycle company is about 15% about motorcycles. Court |

Sean, Oversensitivity coupled with indignation do not suit an internet forum nor you. Good grief. Hals has been building and racing Buells for a long time. Certainly that gives them a HUGE leg up compared to those of us who are not so familiar with all the potential pitfalls and idiosyncracies of pushing the big Buell racing engines to the limit. No? Please. Would you expect Hals folks to be as adept and familiar and expert working on a Saab engine as you? I wouldn't. I would pose the exact same rationale as above but in reverse. Chill. Or I'll tell Court to ignore you. How's the Brickpile S1W coming? |

So I'm over sensitive because someone questions my ability to build a race bike with forty grand in my back pocket? Let's ask Matt how much his Trojan Horse racer cost shall we. I'm sure, no make that absolutely bloody certain, I could build just as nice a Buell with forty grand. As for Leno's bike, what makes his so special that I couldn't build one? Maybe forty grand isn't enough? That contradicts the XBRR's price tag doesn't it? But that's another discussion. Hal's have nothing more than I have at my disposal other than Buell experience and some 'inside' connections they can probably draw upon. Does that mean they're more capable than me, or anyone else for that matter, of building a Buell for Leno? You guys need to wake up and smell the shite you're shoveling. You're talking ridiculous. I wonder how anyone ever gets to beat Hal's when they go racing. Maybe everyone should have Hal's build their race Buells seeing as no one else is as good then. I'll tell you what. I am not in the least over sensitive. I'm fcuking insulted by the lack of respect shown to me by idiots that haven't a clue what I'm capable of. Is this because of my slipper clutch comment? Really. Wonders never cease. If it's any interest to you, I've spent the last several months in between work commitments and other things, building from the ground up a race motor for my 29 year old TVR. If I could be arsed to race it when it's finished, it would probably win. But that's not why I'm building it. It's just like Leno's Buell. It's for my own indulgement, known as fun. I have nowt to prove to you lot nor any reason to pound my chest. If I did you'd know about it. One last thing. I have no problem believing Hal's are top of the tree Buell guys. Doesn't mean they're on their own though. Nor does it mean the likes of I couldn't beat them if I were to try thank you. Rocket |
