Well, if you're interested, check out Aprilia forum.com you'll see that not only do I complain, but I've actually been kicked off that forum 28 times! I just tell the truth & call a spade a spade. Seems like most people can't take it, living in their delusional worlds of "mine's the best" and that's all I know and see. I actually find it hard to believe you drive a Ford & have never had any problems with it, or never eaten at Burger King. I do ALL of the above; drive Fords (Though I own a Toyota!), eat at Burger King, ride Harleys, Etc. Difference between you & me is I just tell it like it is! Chalk me up as delusional then, because I've seen it with my own eyes, many times. It's apparently a contagious form of delusion, a number of other guys at the track suffer from it as well. Are you honestly telling us that after 55 years and 30 motorcycles you still think it comes down to which bike you're on? | ||

It seems to me that there is a difference between telling it like it is and sturing the pot. I have never been kicked off this or any other board (yet). I do voice my opinion upon occation I would not however walk into a NOW convention and proclaim that women were wrong and men were right and then look for sympathy by saying that I tell it like it is. seems you really can't teach an old dog new tricks.  maybe i too am delusional.  maybe w/ all his knowledge and wisdom over the last 55 years he could re-invent the harley motor and teach some engineers over at harley how things should be im sure they would love to see the information one has to update their "old" motor.  -wow 130mph on a buell that is all over the road. impressive you would do such a thing. i guess when you drive that fast you need something that does close to 200mph. hitting the rev. limiter at 6500rpm and your other bike just starts to make power? what do you do between 1000-6500? wait for the power to show itself?  -} }} | ||

I have always wanted a buell, now I have one and I couldn't be happier. So mine is weeping a bit of oil. I am stopping by a dealer on the way home for work on thursday to grab a couple gaskets for the clutch inspection cover, and will hopefully clean it up. I have 350 of some really fun miles so far on it, can't wait to make it past break so I can open her up. | ||

I went riding Sunday with a bunch of Ducatis. I never had to look behind me. Yes I would love to be able to afford a shiny high end Duck but in real world riding (not the race track) I dont get passed very often. As I was blasting down the road I was thinking that if I rode any faster I would not live very long........ Yamaha R-1 riding buddy of mine cant get me off his tail up in the canyons so I think the Buell is just fine! How much horsepower can you REALLY use when on the street? | ||

Maybe you should wear chaps with knee sliders, or get that fringe for your levers? Riders of equal caliber will excel on a better bike. Look at Valentino Rossi & Yamaha if you doubt me. My Aprilia makes 140 RWHP. This is ON a Dyno! My Buell, maybe half that, with almost 20% MORE displacement! If you want to make it worth my while and put up titles, I'll meet you on the Dragon, me on my Aprilia & you on your Buell, but I guarantee you, within the first mile, you won't even be able to see me! Riders of equal caliber will excel on a better bike. This is true. I switched from a ZX-11 to a ZX-9 and felt like the bike was riding itself. I went MUCH faster through the turns and led many people that I'd been following for a couple of years. | ||

All bikes have problems, and Buell has really stepped up the quality with the XB series. Some things may vibrate loose and/or seep oil with the amount vibes on a siamesed V-Twin. That is life. However, the engine "feels" better than a more balanced one and most of us enjoy that. | ||

Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy riding my Buell, just like I enjoy riding all my other bikes. There’s not one of them though, that does EVERYTHING perfectly, or is the “be all, and end all” of motorcycling like some of the limited on here profess. For a real treat, pick up an old Yamaha RZ-350. I’ve got one all tricked out making 60 HP on the Dyno. Probably about what the average Buell is making, but this is in a minus 300 LB. package. That bike has to go down as one of the most “fun” bikes I’ve ever owned, and why I’ve kept it since 1984! It’s like riding a 60 HP Schwinn that handles! Like I said, I enjoy my Buell & have no intentions of getting rid of it, but I can’t help but be honest about it’s good points (Completely missed from my first thread!), AND it’s bad points! | ||

the average xb9 is making around 80hp on the dyno. the xb12 on average makes around 91. both numbers are derived from real world dyno runs. Not spec sheets. Is a little off base. the bikes stock weigh around 450lbs wet. This number comes from the actual scales used for f-USA/ASRA certification. So you have a 60hp, 300lb rz350? lets see that is 5 lbs to the hp! an xb12 at 90 hp at 450 lbs is in the same neighborhood. The Buells racing in ASRA are on a 4 lbs to the hp limit and a lot of them are very close to that number. I'd like to see certified weight and dyno sheets on that bike. There are a lot of racers on this board that can provide that info on their bikes. They have to weigh in and dyno at each ASRA race. The dyno at the track reads notoriously low. Most of the race bikes weigh in at around 410 lbs, however a few are under the 400lb mark. I have nothing against an honest debate of the advantages and weaknesses of Buells or any other brand. BTW we get speeds in excess of 100 mph on the speedo just using our 8hp race bike start cart. speedos are easy to spoof. How about time slips from a certified track? or from the salt? Ask the guys who have been there how hard it is to get into the 160 club. | ||

I'm all for a good talk over the pros and cons of the bikes. But to come in here and go on about how we're all wrong to like our bikes and think they're really good and what not is just plain asking to get flamed. For crying out loud. I get tired of this crap every couple of months. How much you wanna bet if someone went on a jap bike board and stated their bikes are crap they would get flamed out of there in a heart beat and no one would say anything against that happening? You come in and bash the bike while putting on the side how you like them, and also how you have other bikes that are just oh so much better. Expect to get labeled a troll. You come in and want to talk the plus and minus of the bikes in a conversation that doesn't involve calling them junk, expect a good discussion. This crap happens way to often and it get's old. I've got my gripes about my bike also. Who doesn't? I have areas I would like to see changed (few more ponies on top would be nice.), but I'm not going to go around calling the engine junk.
