alright here is my problem my buell was built by the factory as a track bike = hoped up motor no accessories what so ever but i wanted to ride it on the street so i added a head and tail light the bike runs fine with the lights off but with the lights on the battery drains extremely fast eventually causing the bike to die out. . . im thinking that it is that stator coil sence it was built as a track bike the extra power was not needed for lights ect. My question is- is my assumption right and how hard of a job is replacing the stator coil i feel that i have mechanic skills above your avg person but by no means a pro and have never torn into a bike before. . . |

I suspect your diagnosis is correct. Get a service manual and have at it. You'll need a good impact wrench for the big nut and the special sprocket restraint bar. |

How did you obtain a license for the bike? |

If the harness is in place and with connectors, and the rotor is in the primary and has the magnets in it, you can add the stator and voltage regulator and wire it in. Adding any missing pieces and wiring, breakers, etc., of course. What Blake said. The service manual would be invaluable as far as pieces needed, wiring, torque values, left hand threaded nuts, etc. Aftermarket stators are cheaper than OEM parts and some (Accel for example) come with better warranties.
