Charlie, contact the SgtMaj of the RSS in the area where you want to recruit and let him know you are interested in recruiting in the AZ area. He might ask to see a copy of your package and have you remind him to contact him again during Recruiting school. I did that and my SgtMaj requested me and had me assigned to the area I recruited in. It wasn't my hometown, but only a few hours away. |

Southern, I've already met with the NCOIC, SGT MAJ, and the CO. I'm most determined not to have to sell my house. Not because I care, I just HATE moving. I know, wrong career for that, but if I can swing it, I'll stay here... Kobe that is a good site. I got my stuff in from overseas today and it is the typical cheaply packaged South Asia stuff, but it works well, and it was cheap. Hey Carey, That's not the Power Ranger! This is!
Look how little that guy looks compared to me LOL! |

The engine looks a little strange. Can't comprehend what's different, I don't see any fins on the barrels. |

Don, I was up in your neighborhood last Sunday. Rode the Spars on my R1200RT. It was certainly a lot more work than my XB9S. |

Well, yesterday marked 8 years with Elizabeth, time flies! Nothing says love like a tactical shotgun...
SHE LOVES IT!!! Last year I got her a Glock 23C and am on a roll. So guys, when in doubt on your anniversary, buy guns!!!
Tonight is our Squadron Mess Night. It is a time honored tradition that is thought to have begun with the 4th Marine Regiment of Shanghai, China in 1928. Captain Lemuel Shepherd was invited to a banquet hosted by the 2nd Battalion Scott's Guard. His CO, Colonel Davis was so impressed by the ceremony that soon thereafter the first Marine Mess Night was held. While this summarizes the formal tradition, Marines have taken part in similar Mess' with history dating to the Romans. Banquets held to celebrate a victory at war. The Mess Night also hearkens back to a time when Marines and their brothers, the British Royal Marines before them, dined formally on ship while underway. This is a very formal event and I will take the memory of my fallen brothers with me, it is a celebration for them, and our Corps. It's also a damn good reason to go get HAMMERED!! |

"It's ugly and it would melt? sooo...can I quote you on that in the future?" Well... If you insist I suppose you can, but keep in mind that there was certainly a questionmark put there near the end... I only say that because it doesn't look to have a radiator and it looks to be liquid cooled... It seems to look like the clutch and drive pulley are on the wrong side too... Maybe I'm just not looking right . Why? |

Don, Correct me if I am mistaken, the Spars is about a ten mile section of Hwy 89 leading in/out of Prescott. The road appeared to clean, lots of salt residue on the pavement. I don't think it effected my riding much other than psychological. |

Well, tonight was full of highs and lows. There were a lot of entertaining skits at the Mess, and a lot of stories of haroism and sacrifice too. The most sobering part of the evening came when our CO described in detail how his wingman, a father of two, one unborn, was hit by a SAM and shot down over Southern Iraq. He later went out on a chopper and identified the remains, flew with his comrad home, and then couldn't face the family... Also, MSgt Hunt, our training Chief was killed by and IED in Iraq. So here I sit drunken and joyous to have spent an evening with my fellow Marines, and sobered by their sacrifice... Charles... |

Ding Ding Ding WINNER Hattori_hanzo !!! I got that picture of the Aprilia Forum. Seems there are quite a few Aprilia/Buell riders. It's just a rough sketch of what it might look like. No radiators on it but there is talk of putting them in the tailsection. Don't know how well that would work though. Don, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Something like this might just be in Buells very near future. Carey, If the Buells that raced Daytona this year had that motor in the bike maybe at least ONE of them would have finished the race. |

So here I sit drunken and joyous to have spent an evening with my fellow Marines, and sobered by their sacrifice... I don't know what to say Charlie... I grew up in the VNV MC and I've heard a number of those stories told by VN Vets over a fire in the moonlight. I think that all I CAN say is thank God (or "the gods" if that's your thing) for the U.S. Armed Forces. That includes you brother. |

Kobie, it would only be a boat anchor cause it has no radiator's!!!! 5hit if the Firebolts had that motor, we would both own one!!! |

Charlieboy, While thinking of the members of our proud armed forces, a little saying comes to mind. This is back from the Vietnam era, "most gave some, some gave all, we will never forget" In my 22 years, I saw many of my comrades go down. It's not easy, it stays burned in your memory the rest of your life. It's like losing a family member. The hardest part of my career, was having to write that letter home to the parents to tell them of the loss of their son or daughter. Your a Marine Charlie, the few, the proud... At all Marine anniversaries, we think of our fallen comrades, and the ones overseas fighting to maintain our way of life, and allowing others to do the same. I thank you for being a Marine, I'm proud to know you, and enjoy every time that we get together. Thank you Charlie, for being you.
(ya know, a few hash marks on the right sleeve would certainly give you a new outlook on life) Semper Fi!

Thanks for the comments guys. I guess the reason I posted is that you get a little tunnel vision working day in day out in your particular MOS. Then, someone shares something with you, a picture, a story, and it reminds you that you're part of something bigger. That happened at the Mess Night and was why I felt compelled to share... I get another hash mark in a year Bart. I know, I'm still a youngin'; but I'm half way!!! And thank you brother! I have yet to lose someone close over there, there had been close calls at Ramadi for my Marines getting rocketed on the airfield...and certainly a few times on the convoys. I knew MSgt Hunt, who I had mentioned. Not well, but his death was a reality check. It could be any of us, at any time. I'm mostly feeling proud, proud of the guys coming home for some R&R, and those about to head over, who will give much. Good to see you around Jerry! You should stop in more often and we'll promise to do the same! |
