Just bought a used XB12R on eBay. Needs a new front tire. Anything better than stock, or should I stick to those? Any special brake pad recommendations? Those will have to be replaced soon. Any problem using brighter headlights? Recommendations? Need a relay with your recommended bulbs? Any tips on putting the frame pucks on? Just slap 'em on, or place them just so with soapy water like we used to do stickers? Are Fiamm Highway Blasters worth it? Need relay? Planning on leaving everything else dead stock. Good idea? Other stuff that needs doing? Thanks in advance. |

Pick a Pirelli of your choice for the tires. Your bike will love you for it. Any pad will work, you can actually get good quality aftermarket pads cheaper than stock sometimes. I seem to like EBC. People will tell you what to do about bulbs that will fit, dont know what you mean by needing a relay though. You can also take the "eyebrow" out of the low beam for some more light. Prep the frame with alcohol. No soap. Stick 'em and press. Dont know what highway blasters are? Nothing ever needs doing.......but changing things is our nature. |

Brake pads - choose depending on your braking style. Unless you're really loading up the brakes (Race/track days) - stock pads are probably not worth changing. If you're not getting tons of heat into them, just stick with the stockers. A good set of racing pads, like race tires only last a weekend. EBC HH pads are good for grip but a good rider can burn them totally out in a day. Nissin 804's are pretty good pads for racing and are what I'm going to switch to (also recommended by Buell Racing). If you're primarily street riding, the stockers really to work pretty well and last a pretty long time. |

When installing the frame pucks, the kit comes with some alcohol prep cleaner for the frame. Instructions included recommend to hold puck against frame (before peeling paper) and trace outline with a pencil. |
