Opinions out there on frame sliders for an M2? Like maybe LSL.... I don't see too many bikes with them on are they in the way of the rider or just not worth it??? |

It's cheaper to just throw yourself under the bike in a crash. But seriously, I've never seen sliders for a tube frame. They would have to stick out pretty far on the right to protect the intake. |

That is one of the reasons Erik designed the AIR BOX, not only does it collect still air, it is an excellant SLIDER !!! Therefore you only have to buy the one for the LEFT !!! |

The LSL sliders are a bit pricey, but DO THEY WORK!! I low sided my X-1 on the left side and nothing touched except for the slider and the handle bars. Saved me a ton of cash and the only damage I did was tweak my bars. I changed the bars out and I'm good to go. As for the slider, you can't even tell where it hit unless you really look. The right side of the bike is on the short side if you run a forcewinder, as the air filter sticks out about 3/4" past the slider. The header is safe from harm though. I am going to have a local machine shop make a longer spacer for mine to help protect my forcewinder. Those are the only sliders for the tubers that I know of, unless you make your own. You could try to get just the LSL bases and adapt some really long sportbike sliders to them, doesn't look to be too difficult of a task after looking at mine. Check Al at American Sport Bike as he now sells them. |

LSL is great, high quality stuff -- whether they are in the way depends a great deal on your inseam -- I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam, and they were, in fact, intruding on the place my kness wanted to be -- not by a lot, but bu more than enough to be a bother on long rides |

I'll post some pics of mine on my bike tonight. They are not in the way at all for me and I'm 5'9" with stock peg locations and lower bars. You have to play around with mounting locations on your frame to see where they fit best, protect your bike and are out of your way. |

Mw -- I considered moving them forward of the vertical fram member, but then the forces generated in a get off would simply have caused them to rotate outa the way -- another .5" woulda done it, but I simply couldn't figure out how to move em any more forward without trippling the investment (new mounts that would cover both the vert and horizontal fram members woulda been aces, but are beyond my limited machining abilities) |
