I was wondering how many S1W's are actually left. All these "Mutant Buell" Choppers make me sick. It's a shame that Buell's can be had for cheap, and that they're being scavenged for parts. I feel that the S1W was a very important bike for Buell, and it should be considered a collectable. Anyway, i've owned two identical S1W's since 1998. Andy Spiegal wrecked my first Black on Black with PM wheels back in 1999. Funny story...i'll pull a Court here and tell you to remind me to tell you about it sometime... Anyway, i got a second S1W in October of 99. I found the same exact bike on Ebay, and snatched it up. What i would like to do is to make a data base for all S1W owners, to find out how many of us still exist. If someone out here is computer savvy, and would know how to set up such a thing, that would be great, as i'm not so smart for it. What i envision is a page set up sorta like this one. http://planet-torque.com/mk2/list.php I think it would be cool to find out the history of everyones bike. Add a pic or two of the bike, and tell us where it lives, mods, etc... I'll start with my VIN# 4MZYS11J8W3227078 I hope there's interest in this... |

I've still got my second grey frame carbon black S1W. The first one holed a piston after 4 weeks and 1 day of ownership, so I took it back to the dealer, went to another dealer and bought the same identical S1W again. That was back in August 1998. Much modified from stock now, I've still tried hard to keep it as much a Buell as what I believe a super super super Buell S1W might have been had it come from the Buell plant. That said, I like these guys and girls that chop 'em up or part them out. It makes mine more unique, more rare, and one day though I never seem to be able to do anything other than throw money at it, it might be worth a small fortune. I'll let you have vin details etc later. Rocket |

I have a pearl white 98 S1W down here in Florida. Probably won't be worth much in the future, as I can't seem to stop putting miles on it! |

Mine also is a "chopper rescue". I think the only original parts left are the tailsection, frame & front wheel. I still have the original rear wheel but found a prettier one for every day usage. See "My Money Pit" for the latest incarnation. But here's a quick picture of what it will resemble when done (again):

wrecked an all white s1w back in 2000. I sold it for about as much as I paid for it! and plus the insurance money. I'll own another s1w all white, soon. |

I love mine! molten orange, black frame, black painted swing arm (ala Ferris), PM wheels from the Blur, CF race air cleaner, cut CF rear hugger (have uncut one), after market mirrors, updated shifter (polished), polished exhaust, VH aluminum muffler, K&N speedway bars (no longer available), i still want to put a chin fairing on it and a few more CF pieces, and finish polishing the trees and other bits (thanks Ferris!) then she will be mostly done. let's formalize an S1W site. my bikes name...Wedgie, morphed from Thong when Ferris was riding her. I like both but think Wedgie is more playful. |

Just got '98 S1W White Lightning. Anyone ever cross reference the fork seals to another make. I'm tired of waiting after 3 weeks for a set from CHD. james |

Always, and I mean ALWAYS, call Dave first. With you're Badweb discount, it's about a wash on pricing and it saves you the headaches of dealing with your local non-Buell friendly dealership. |

DaveS is the Buell Dooode at Appleton HD/Buell, and your best defence against slow delivery of Buell parts -- go to the Spnsor's section of Badweb, he's right there -- good guy, good rider, better friend, and the best thing that's happened to Buells outside of East Troy |

it's not an original s1w started life as a '96 s1 but through a little frankenstein goodness - she's now been updated to well past s1w specs!

Sleez, ended up at $880.00 and change delivered to the States. The price I was getting here for a Penske was $895.00 before shipping. It came highly recommended by the UKBEG. I was also able to have an extra 1/2 inch added to the length to bring the seat height down on the bike. Rider is only 5'-3". I can also fine tune the ride height further. I should be getting in mounted up this weekend. james |

"'96 or not, they should see you GO on that thing" Look who's talkin'.... but since you insist....
I'm up for a ride whenever you're into it, but don't expect me to keep up with that battlestar galactica BMW of yours with my GS. Had a good ride with Les and his Gixxer the other day.... That was entertaining as ever... hehehehe.... |
