The first is made by "Mattel" or "Hasbro" and the second is a BUELL part? |

Looks like one hooks into the system and changes something with the fuel, the second is a permanant attachment, but I am not really sure what applications each would be more appropiate for. LOL @ mattel and hasbro. |

The two products are quite diff. The Dobek device, which can be used w/ the stock ecm, allows you to add fuell from idle to WOT by way of 4 independent adjustments. Don't get carried away though or your fuel economy will suffer mightily. Very useful if you've done alot of mods to your intake and exhaust that would lean the bike out. The "race ecm" that you can buy at the dealership also changes the fuel map and raises the redline allowing you to rev higher before hitting the skip spark mode. Call the folks at Techlusion, they can explain it better than me. |

Hmmm, is there a chance I can save money then and just have the dealership modify the stock ECM? The race ECM will void my warranty, this is why I am looking at alternatives. I bought the extended warranty and I am not doing anything that can void that. Not sure I have the tech know-how to do modify the EFI on my own. |

Modifying the ECM, I assume you are talking about direct link, will also void warranty. It's not cheap either. However it is the best option to get your bike tuned to it's full potential. |

Guess I need to just call the dealership and ask. I think it's pathetic if you are allowed to put an after market muffler on the bike, but are not allowed to alter the fuel/air ratio of the bike to let it run efficiently with the mods. |

If you can talk your dealership into letting you just put on an aftermarket pipe (and keep your warrenty) You have a very understanding dealership! |

It all depends on what the individual dealer will "overlook" |
