If you take your air box covers off (outer and inner) on the left hand side where the air inlet comes through the frame there is a rubber "snorkel" that necks down and makes the inlet smaller to lessen the intake noise. you can just pull this out from the top almost doubling the size of the intake hole and letting more air in. its an easy little mod almost everyone does along with a K&N or a buell race filter. I think I have a pic I can email you when I get back on my computer and not my parents |

Do you have to run a race filter or a K&N filter if you desnorkle it? Nope, but it don't hurt. Get the open airbox mod from American sportbike while you're at it and it's like a whole 'nother bike! |

Kdan - I have been thinking about the open airbox mod. What difference does it make? Do you have to get the TPS reset after? I currently have the race ECM, K&N, desnorkeled, and Drummer. What are your thoughts? Thanks. |

I took the air box cover off then the black cover and then removed the air filter and still couldn't find the little rubber piece on the left hand side you guys are talking about. Is it the black funnel looking thing that goes up and touches the black cover? Please, would somebody tell me more and put some pics up....thanks alot |

Buellfirebolt31 - Your 2006 XB12R does not have a snorkel. Your airbox gets it's air from the mesh holes in the front of the airbox cover around the gas filler hole. (Message edited by pa_xb9sx on March 26, 2006) |
