Anyone see that Buell TV Commercial? I just got it in the Buell Emaillist. See here: http://www.buell.com/en_us/mania/commercial.asp Couple questions: Anyone seen it on TV? In the beginning of the clip you hear the Bolt zip by, and sounds kinda' I4-ish. I woulda' thought it woulda' been a deeper grumble, but maybe not at the higher RPMs? Or maybe it's the difference in sound between a 9 and 12? The few Buells I've seen around always rumble by (that's why I'm saving for one). |

Yeah, it's a 9 at high rpm with stock exhaust. Something many have never heard |

it sure sounded like an I-4 to me. I was very disappointed that they didn't take enough notice of the exhaust note. |

Kinda off topic but maybe anony can help, I know that the owners man now comes with a DVD but has it been updated? When i got my 04 it still had tube frames in video, I cant recall if it even shows an S. I asked at work if I could cut a owners man open to watch the DVD at lunch but they said no. Can I see the video on HDnet? |

Probably depends on weather there's a race kit on it or an after market pipe or the stock pipes...they all sound different.. stock pipe being the weaker sounding of the bunch |

I'm having trouble believing that noise came from any V-Twin motorcycle. A Ducati 749 at 13 grand sounds less whiny. |

That's no 9R sound, I have one! That's obviously a screw-up by the ad agency or something, but the commercial is still way cool. |

The red Firebolt is a 12R, not a 9. Cool commercial, hope to see it on tv. |

Good grief! The sound is absolutely a 9R at high revs with stock muffler. The 9 was used for sound because it has a sweeter sound than the 12. |

I believe it was the History channel. It's the H with history written under in in the lower right corner that gives it away. |

Oh my... now you have ***really*** stirred something up Of course, I agree completely. And the Translucid Hero Blue 9's sound even better then the other 9's |

The show was actually about motorcycles. . .the end of it had some cool stuff about the Britten and Buell. The same folks just did a documentary on Frank Gehry. Vickie and I went to the first showing. I look down the row from us and who do I see but Stephen Spielberg. I thought it'd be funny to pitch the Buell story to him . . can you see Erik Buell having to wear an ET costume?

Oy Vey! Spielberg does Buell.. Great, we'll probably end up with some little girl, feeding Heath Ledger or some other young actor candies while explaining how neat it would be if there was a US built sport bike.. Then, there would be the scene where Tom Cruise tells Michael Mconahey(sp?) that if he moved the exhaust to the center, under the bike, it would be great for handling.. Then, Morgan Freeman can explain to Madonna all about the virtues of the 45* V-Twin.. and why they should use it in the new bike. Let's see.. next scene, Angelica Houston will show up with an idea for a highly aerodynamic body for this first street bike.. All of them, will of course lament the use of fossil fuels to run the machine.. and there will be diatribes about just how incredibly dangerous the whole thing is going to be. David Schwimmer will of course die as the first test rider to crash the machine while trying to rush a heart to the transplant team after the huge Milwaukee Earthquake of 1984. Those huge steel girders that he was bouncing off of at 100+ mph finally giving way and the bike explodes into a great big ball of fire as he tosses the heart to Shaq who slam dunks it into the patient at the last moment to save the life! Later, after great lamenting over the loss of the heroic rider.. Jack Nicohlson will swagger in, declare that America needs forward thinkers and great patriots that can understand the need to sublimate their individualism and desires for personal glory so that the 'village' can benefit from an even playing field where nothing upsets the world around them.. and the pain of loss of the heart delivery guy of course.... So, build the bike in his friends memory.. Jude Law will state that he can build a better street bike.. and they will do it! Colin Farrell will haphazardly mention the idea of putting fuel in the frame.. or at very least beer, so he can get drunk while he rides. Mos Def and 'Fidy Cent' will introduce fuel injection with a wicked mean rap about killing people and dealing drugs.. Which will lead us right into Hugh Jackmans battle with alcohol and drugs while he tries to sort out the problems of a frame that holds fuel, a swing arm that holds oil and still keep his company above water.. But wait! James Earl Jones will come in and try to buy him out, adding this small independent company to his global industrial concern as part of his plan to spread chrome throughout the universe! Just then, Lindsey Lohann will come in having discovered the concept of ZTL braking while in an argument with her secret lesbian lover. Finally, hand in hand staring lovingly at each other.. Robert Dinero and Cheech Marin will declare a motorcycle is born, however, for the time being, their love must remain hidden.. after all, the knuckle draggers and juvenile delinquents riding upside down on the highway at 300+ mph. While doing a stoppie and drinking a Pepsi with their perfectly styled hair. will never understand.. Damn.. pathos and triumph! Phew.. Hollywood does .. well.. Something to what could be a pretty cool story.. huh? |

Who are these anonymous people pretending to know something about Buell motorcycles anyway? And what kind of fool can't discern the difference between an IL4 and an XB9? Next thing you know they'll be trying to tell us to first turn the handlebars towards the right in order to initiate a left turn. |

You forgot the scene where Jessica Alba shows up in a bikini and sits on the bike suggestively and recites a few completely inane lines in a monotone voice. Of course, the whole scene will have NOTHING to do with the storyline, but will still boost sales dramatically. And also the part where Angelina Jolie comes in with tight leathers on and then shoots up the Buell development shop with a silenced UZI in each hand. If they make the movie, I'll watch it. |

I was wanting to read it the other day .......................... but didn't dare mention it here, but seeing as you've let the cat outta the bag LOL. Anony will be pleased to hear, I've not yet purchased speakers for this new puter I got, so I can't comment on the sound of an XB9 at full bore Rocket |

I particularly like the energy lent to the commercial by the sound track. The bike sounds like a 9 wound tight to me. |
