Ok I really like my Uly and have the 3 bag option on it. But when you take the bags off the mounts are, well, ugly. So I have an idea and I hope someone has a contact they can call. How about some soft bags that zip/velcro over the mounts and are about 2" thick. Then have the expandable zipper section like the Buell tankbag so when you want to carry a sweatshirt or other item you unzip the section(s). Maybe a couple of sections to allow the bag to expand out to maybe 6". And the side of the bag could be accented with orange/black relective material. Then when you want the full hardbags you just unzip/velcro them off the bike. Anybody have a contact in the soft luggage biz? |

Coolice, There are tons of soft bags out there now that would prolly work. Chase Harper, Dirt Bagz, etc. Many are designed for dirt bikes like my DRZ and could be strapped to the Uly's hard bag hardware easily enough. Not sure if there's a big enough market there for them to do something custom. I just leave the trunk on all the time and pull the side cases off until I need them. Helps with lane splitting. <g> Regards, Jim in Santa Barbara |

Personally, I think that would look worse than the bare racks, but I don't see the big deal about the racks anyway. Why not just leave the hard bags on? |
