I thought I'd share this with you XBers... Not too long after I bought my 9R, I low-sided it and broke my thumb. I couldn't ride for 3 months. I've been wanting to take it to my local sportbike night gathering to show it off (who wouldn't want to?). So, last night, I was finally able to ride it out there. Honestly, I was a little nervous. I didn't know what kind of attention the bike would get. It would be surrounded by Gixxers, ZX-10s, Busas, R1s - I didn't know how it would be received. Well, that 9R drew a big crowd all night, as much as someone else's new Triumph 675. The arctic white paint stood out amongst the regular crowd of fully-faired Japanese bikes. One guy, an R1 rider, sat on my bike as it idled and rumbled, smiled and said, "This is definitely addictive." A female rider sat on it while it idled, said it felt better than a vibrator (!!) and began stroking the airbox in fun, cooing "Ooh baby, I love you!" She said if I rode with a girl in front of me - and I'd like to see how that could be done - it would make for some great sex! Afterward, I went riding with a bunch of other sport bikes, just enjoying the cool night air and feeling the V-twin rumble beneath me. The whole night was a blast. I love this XB! |

I had a similar experience when I took my '04 12R to a bike night. I was walking around and they said will the person with the black and gold Buell bring it to the front of the lot. I went up there with two other bikes that looked like they were customized at least a little. They thought my bike was a full custom because of the amber wheels and wind screen, and I won first place in the bike contest. I loved that bike and all, but it wasn't "all that", but I took the $75 dollar gift certificate anyway. |

I love my xb. There are a few people out there who think they know everything and just don't get it. I went to a large Jap bike dealer with a friend last weekend. We were not on our bikes so no one had any idea what I rode. A couple of employees were watching the Datona 200 as I walked up and joined them. They thought they were just watching some 600's race and didn't have any idea that Buells were out there too. Then they showed a Buell pitting and the commentators were talking about the problems that the particular Buell team was having pitting (they didn't have the fancy automatic stands like Factory Honda.) One of the employees made an assinign comment saying "Thats what they get for buying a Buell." My blood began to boil. I calmnly stated "Actually they are very nice bikes. I own one." He had a surprised look on his face and tried to make a graceful recovery but I just simply turned and walked away. Some people are just dum and arrogant and I try to stay away from those types. |

I get MANY comments, double taps on the car horn, thumbs up, etc. from people when I ride my XB9R around town. this is in Southern California too, the mecca of American car culture. Riding home on Sunset one weekend night (with all the custom car cruisers, hot cars etc.), I practically couldn't get anywhere because everyone at stop lights, intersections, stalled traffic, wanted to ask me about my bike. It's great and an attention getter. |

I had my bike loaded on an open trailer and pulled it to Ocala, FL so I could ride over to Daytona for the race and gathering at Nicks. While driving down there my wife was paying attention to the traffic passing us. Some college kids drove by and my wife started laughing. She said the one on the passenger side about broke his neck turning around to look at my bike. Everytime someone passed by and was looking at my bike she kept telling me. |

My Buell gets A Lot of attention even at the gas station. Mostly positive feedback is given, but some is negative. Either way.....I Love my Buell! |

Al, don't let other peoples ignorance offend you, it would have been a great opening to start a conversation. By the time I was done, I could have had the import guys stuttering around why their bikes need to be water cooled, why they don't have perimiter brakes, why it took them so long to put the exhaust can under the bike instead of sticking out the side, why their "lighweight sportbikes" need such a long wheelbase, etc. Not in a pissing contest sort of way, just in a cool discussion of the art of the motorcycle kind of way. |

My Guzzi V11 and Limited Paso turn heads -- as both are quite rare -- but I must say that the white Firebolt (especially with the Special Ops pipe) outdraws both of them at the pump. Recently, I rode in to my office and parked the bike. Went to lunch with one of my coworkers in his car. When we returned an old friend was standing next to the 'Bolt and smiling his ass off. "You should sell off all those pasta burners. This is the best looking bike I've ever seen!" A dedicated Suzuki GSXR rider, he was even more impressed when I explained all of the technical aspects of the bike. While I hear a lot of dissent about these bikes on the net, nearly everyone I encounter is positively impressed with the 'Bolt. In fact, a coworker recently sold his BMW K1200RS and -- having just SAT on the Firebolt at idle. The only things that turn people away from XBs are ignorance and snobbery -- neither of which I welcome with open arms. |

The biggest obstacle to there being far more Buell owners and riders is un-cooperative dealers that would rather sell a sportster or v-rod than any Buell product. I know that is being addressed, unfortunately there are potential owners being turned away in droves in the mean-time. (Message edited by diablobrian on March 19, 2006) |

would rather sell a sportster or v-rod than any Buell product. Last dealer I went to and looked at Buells, A guy came up to me and asked why would I want one of those, (XB9SX), and then dragged me over to a V-Rod and tried to sell me on one. |

Mutation (Anthony) is right. Just picked up my XB9SX from him on Saturday. Plus he told me about BadWeb. Happy to have a dealer that is into Buells. |

Mike; Congratulations! Get used to having that silly grin on your face. As long as you're riding a Buell, it's going to be there. |

Hello everyone. I, too, have had massive positive response everywhere from my XB12Scg. I have modded it a little (Micron, mirrors, and seat cowl) - these things just draw the attention. I am very happy with the cycle. Very Happy. It does everything Erik says it will do. Plus, it's different than anything out there....anything! And that's probably why we bought it, right? Have fun. |

last summer about forty of us mine was the only Buell. all rode to a big local bike night. there is usually about 1500 bikes there. so we pull in and park. a couple of us walked around to check out the other bikes. then i got a call on my cell from one of the other guy's that rode down with us. he said man you have a whole bunch of people standing around your bike asking me all kind of questions about it. you need to come back here and give these people some answers. it was pretty cool. it is alway's a nice feeling to have some one appreciate your bike! |

I had a hardware store manager ask me not to park my bike in the parking lot, because as long as it was there none of the yard guys did any work! (mind you, he was looking at my bike himself, and smiling, when he said that...). Haven't had any negative comments as yet--but I do live in the sticks, and I seldom take my bike anywhere there are a lot of people. |

I rode mine to a rugby match this weekend. After the game I was taking a couple of my friends over to see the bike. Before I got there four or five guys from the other team were gawkin at it. They take on elook at me with my shaved head and a little blood dripping from my nose and remember that I had been nockkin em down for the last 80 mins, and scurried away. At the bar social afterward they came up and started asking questions but I had already put the bike away by then. |

So i pull ahead a little to get next to the SUV and them whammo.....shirt came up .....good way to make me crash but it was entertaining....and i bet it'll never happen again..... people love these bikes...everytime i stop to talk to guys on imports they all come over and ask me a ton of questions |
