Hey Tom, I thought I remember you saying you weren't going to run your sheet metal belly pan and were going back to the plastic one. Are you planning on keeping the sheet metal one? My plastic one is fried and I'm looking at other ideas since they break so easy. Right now I've cut up a carbon fiber one for an XB that might work but I'm not sure it'd pass tech due to an area being fairly exposed. Anyway, long story short - are you interested in selling your sheet metal one? |

Jason. Why not use your existing as a mold and make your own fiberglass one? We used to do that when my Dad raced cars. BTW. When do you want to paint your bike? Time is running short. The gun is all ready to go. |

Sorry I missed your call Dana. Long story short, the bike's are on hold for now. My Mom flew in Saturday morning. My Grandma is in the final stages of cancer (lung) and I have been spending most of the time on the 8th floor at Kenosha Hospital. They gave her Last Rights Friday nite, but being a stubborn German/Irish lady, she's still fighting, but knows the end is near. And she's ready. So, when whatever happens happens, I'll get back into the Motorcycle mode. Later..... AND QUIT SMOKING EVERYONE!!!!!!! |

uwgriz, Sorry I can't help you out. I going to be keeping the sheet metal pan for a spare, I just don't trust my plastic pan for the entire season. I've added alot of aluminum to it though. My steel one also needs some work. It's tough to keep these things in good shape. |

That's cool. I have a few other ideas going, now including making a fiberglass one. Just thought I'd check. |

A fiberglass one sounds cool! I your interested, I use 1/8 x 1 alum. and mount to the plastic where it needs reinforcement. This works for a period of time. |

Are you using the older thin pan or do you have a newer, thicker one? Supposedly there's better life to be had from the newer ones. |

Rocco, first off, sorry to hear about grandma, no matter long a life someone's had, it's always too short. As far as the bike, I have all the bodywork off right now, just need to strip the old paint off of it. After that, it'll all be ready for paint. Just let me know whenever you get time to shoot it. |

Steve, Henry has some here, I was just looking for another alternative as I'm hoping to not have it be a part of routine maintenance. |

Hey y'all! Been awhile since I've been on (busy). So I'm starting to put my bike back together after last season's mishap. Before I took of the tensioner/idler (whatever), when I would walk the bike around, eventually the belt would weasel it's way off the pulley and the belt would start getting chewed. I got a new used pulley today and put it on. That's that, right? WRONG!! It still does it, only if I roll it backward, and will straighten itself out when I return to forward. I can't remember if it did it this way before, or if it was both F & B. Is this normal? Were these bikes not meant to be pushed backward for long distances, or do I have a larger problem on my hands? Please help, nice weather is around the corner!!! TIA! P.S. Sorry to jack this thread! |
