I took the M2XS (02 M2 w/98 S1 tank & tail and 03 XB front end) out to the mountains with some fellow 3%ers yesterday, and I need two things: a seat that isn't a torture device and a tank that gives me more than 2 gallons before it hits the reserve.

I know I can get a seat from Corbin, but I'm not sure about the tank. What other tank(s) will bolt on to my bike?

The S1W tank, and the later style M2 tank..called the manta tank or something like that...much more capacity...

The "manta tank" (which also came on all the S3s) holds 5.5 gallons.
I've got a nice black one w/o logos for $150 shipped if you are interested.

OK, 99 and up X1s and S3s, had fuel injection...so, those tanks would be out..

his best bet, is an M2 or S1W manta tank..

Yeah, teh 02 M2 did come with that tank, BUT he bought it converted...with teh S1 tank and solo seat

I have a m2 tank from my 00 m2 that is sanded and waiting for paint. I've never been able to put the 5 gallons they claim for its capacity into it, 'bout 4.7 is the most it'll hold. It's just taking up space.
If you want it pm me, you can have it for the $35 I paid another bad webber for the 98 S3 tank on my bike now. It would end up looking like a S1W. Also there's still some pro series seats out there, they're a bit less than the corbin...

The pro-series seat is very comfortable. I think the one on my S1 is a pro-series, it has the logo on the side. I'm not a huge fan of the corbin, the one I tried was two hard and it made me sit further back than the pro-series. Watch e-bay, thats your best bet for getting a good deal on a seat. I've often wanted more range out of my bike but I just don't like the looks of the manta tank, I'll stop for fuel a little more often for the look of the smaller tank. Here's a picture of the pro-series seat on my S1.

Thanks, all. Let me see if I've got this summarized correctly: the tank is the same on the 98 S1W, 98 S3, and 02 M2. Is the 00 M2 tank the same as the 02?

Buell has a line of parts called Pro Series. Perhaps that seat is made by Buell? I've had a saved eBay search for "Buell" and "seat" set to email me since I first sat on the dang thing, but I've only found stockers and twin tails so far.

(98)S3's and the same year White Lightning have a manta tank set up for a carb'd bike. Fuel capacity is (claimed) 5.5 gal. These are the tanks that had decals that would bubble not too big a deal if you plan on painting but care needs to be taken...

99+ M2's all run the same "5.0" gal manta tank, all M2's are carb' d.

99+ S3's are fuel injected and are set up different for the fuel pump and won't work with the carb'd model's petcock.

The walls of the 98 S3 tank on my bike seem to be thinner and flex some. The '00 tank from my m2 seems quite a bit more solid. Shape and fitment are the same for the manta tanks.

fuel injection s3 tanks will work. They just require gutting the fuel pump and installing an inline on/off valve.

I've got a brand new molten orange S3 tank that will be mounted on my carbed X1. Just need to figure out a clean looking method for the seat/tank area.

I have to run octane boost in my 11.5:1 pistons. So the 5 gallon tank ensures more riding time and less hassle. Plus it just plain looks better.

The '97 S3 also has a Manta tank set up for carb. That's what my bike is.
