Test drove the Ulysseus. It was tall and not really impressive on the straight-lined road course, but living on a dirtroad with potholes, needing to carry home a roast, perhaps it might be advantageous. I'll stick with my X1. I guess unless we move somewhere more rural. It sorta reminded me of an upscale version of my old Yamaha XT600.. Minus that nice thumper feel The Buell folks were cordial. It was cool finally meeting Erik for real, but he was understandably preoccupied with the upcoming race. Still, a nice guy, and approachable for being a genius and all! BRAG members got nothing. I mean nuthin! No special parking (there was Buell-only parking but it had an equal number of metrics, and no guards). No BRAG member-only-hospitality-area like every other major manufacturer had- while my son, the ROK member is in the Kawasaki area eating and drinking all he could stand with the other ROK members, BRAG members might as well have left their membership cards home. No box either; no special BRAG seating, even though the boxes and seats were 95% empty. We joined BRAG just for Daytona "perks", obviously we will not be re-upping! Zero perks in Daytona... The 200 was fun; of course we were pulling for the XBRR. The riders tried hard it seemed- #221 & #999 did pretty well and hung in there a long time, but in the end you all know the result. I talked to Buell dudes in the garage after and they basically said "new engine", which is probably pretty accurate. It'll be awhile to dial that in I suppose. For some reason the seat on the race bike was all Duct Tape!? Looked pretty ratty for a major manufacturer's best effort! Still, the scientist in me says that redlines are highly correlated to winner's circles. I think if Erik can get the V-Twins into the 12's then perhaps we'll have a shot. The acceleration of the Hondas and Yamahas out of the horseshoe was something to see. But The Buells had the best SOUND... Listen for the frequency to get higher and we've got a winner! I'l put some pix up from the pits and race and garage.. -Buell Boy |

In all fairness to Buell, they were giving out "(hello) inverted peace sign" t-shirts and "Buell Racing" patches to BRAG members down at the civic center on the beach. |

Actually the BRAG down there did have parking over at the dog track in front of the speedway, even gave us some BRAG ticket holders. This entire section was reserved for us.
I don't recall duct tape on the seat, but this foam, this is Mike's and I watched them put it back on his bike while in the garage.
It would have been nice though if they had done a bit more. But hey, us BadWebbers got together and did our thing over at Nicks. I just found a picture of McWilliams bike and they used duct tape for him. He may not have liked how the seat felt and needed that tape to adjust the seat. Hey, I'm optimistic about it all. My understanding is that Jeremy preferred to be more elevated on teh bike so an extra 1.5" or so of dense foam was taped to his bike's seat. The stock seat is as shown in photos of other bikes. Pretty sure BRAG will be there in force at Daytona next year. The XBRR effort was really pushing the envelope to make Daytona this year and so BRAG was kind of left out in the cold. They did great for unbelievably short notice. We'll certainly not hold back from goading them into doing better though. |

B.R.A.G. did a dandy job and there will be 3 more race efforts supported by the Buell Demo Team this year. My room at Daytona is already booked for next year! |
