Well, I've been sitting around here for months sipping the Kool-Aid. As of Friday I'll be the owner of a shiny new Black Uly. All the hard bags and the factory low seat to help out with my inseam challenged frame - 30" on a very good day. Dave's promotion was enough to get me to create an account but the timing wasn't right for the deal - sorry Dave. |

Hey don't feel bad I also have a 30" inseam and it hasn't bothered me at all. Did I consider a low seat???? Nope. You loose too much cushion and heat insulation so it may not be the way to go. I am sure you have read the comments from others who went to the low and are now using there original seat. I do still think Buell would be better off offering buyers a choice of seat and windshield. |

Congrats! I know what you mean by the "30 inches on a very good day." My inseam fluctuates up to 12 inches depending upon ambient outside air temperature. |

Actually, the dealer I'm getting the bike from already had the low seat and the bags on it. Apparently, everyone's been ordering the bags and the seat height has been commented on alot - so they set it up accordingly. I'm not complaining |

Ikeman, glad to see you pulled the trigger! Also glad to hear you got one of the "hard-to-get-your-hands-on" black ones, way cool! What dealer did you go through? BTW, Friday looks like a good day to pick up a bike around these parts, still only scattered showers right? |

Snub - yeah, weather's supposed to hold out. I got it same place as you - Cerini's. Actually, Donnie mentioned you've been riding the hell out of yours and in weather that he won't ride in. |

Not to start another color flame war but I was actually planning on getting orange - until I saw the black one in person... |

He, he... Donnie is a good guy, he just doesn't want to get his chrome dirty! You do know that he is the "Chrome Consultant" don't you? I almost rode to work on Tuesday but wimped out, 23 degrees is a little too cold for 32 miles of parkway blasting! But soon! I'll be out and about solo on Friday (with a trip to Cerinis' for my free cap, if they still have them) and Saturday with some guys from work. Maybe we can meet up some where. In any event...you're going to love the bike and Cerinis. |

If all goes according to plan I should be picking up the bike Friday morning. And yes they still have free caps - mine's on my head right now. If you stop in at Cerini's maybe I'll see you there while I'm picking mine up. I'm on call this week which entails 2p-11p on Friday and daylight through the weekend. Doesn't leave much room for working on break-in. My biggest issue right now is I've got next to no street gear - haven't owned a street bike in about 8 years. |

Congratulations! Enjoy your new bike (albeit at a slower pace since you bought a black one). |

Here is a good place to start for street gear. This guy does a good job, and knows the products well. http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com/ My leathers "shrank" a couple years ago, yet again, and I found a great armored jacket and pants with a 10 year warranty for around 400 bucks total. They zip together and are very comfortable. |

I second that. Just got a smokin' deal on riding boots. Great service and fast delivery. |

I'll throw in my vote for motorcyclecloseouts.com too. I am lucky enough to get to go into their store. They are very nice folks and they all ride. |

Excellent! Way too short though. Rode it to work this morning - ran great. Hopefully I'll get out of here at a decent hour and can put some miles on this afternoon. I'll post more details of my impressions after I get a few more miles on her and have the time to post it. The biggest surprise for me is that even though the bike is tall it's so well balanced that it's not an issue at all. I can get more of my feet on the ground with my father-in-law's R1150RT but it feels like I'm really working to hold it up. I think we had Donnie pretty confused on Friday because he knew we had never met but we both asked whether the other was there - too funny! It was good to put a face with the name. We'll have to try to hook up at some point after my insane schedule cools down a bit. |

A little more clarification on the tall bike thing. Most bikes (other than cruisers) are somewhat tall for me. The Uly just feels like a much smaller bike at parking lot speeds. The R1150RT feels like it wants to fall over at those speeds. Low CG works like magic. |
