BTW, the NGK 9 series I use are run stock in some Aprilias so you should be able to find them easily at a dealer/shop that sells their bikes. |

I've run Splitfire, Champion, Accel, Bosch and HD plugs in my S1W. I've always gone back to NGK's. They are the only plug that offers any kind of reliability. The above list of plugs represents failure after failure after failure, except for NGK, and when you're out on the open road having fun, dropping a cylinder ruins your day. I've harped on zillions about how good Mobil 1 is, based on my own non scientific based research. I can't source motorcycle specific Mobil 1 4T anymore so I've switched to the automotive Mobil 1 15w / 50 Racing. I've recently being converted to Dexron III ATF in the transmission. This is not a recommended fluid for Buell application, but it is a well know primary lubricant in drag racing circles and on HD road bikes too. Rocket |

i've run other plugs also in my other bikes(all harley's). ALL have fouled eventually EXCEPT when i run the NGK's. they are the only ones i run now in any bike, ESPECIALLY my firebolt. THEY WILL NOT FOUL...PERIOD! the plugs are to difficult to change on the side of the road w/ simple tools that i DON'T usually carry w/ me. |

Currently running- Plugs: Stock HD 10R12A Oil: Mobil 1 15w50 (gold cap) Primary/Tranny: Mobil 1 75w90 gear oil Filter: Napa Gold 1394 (actually Wix 51394) Have also run- Plugs: NGK Iridium DCPRwhatevers (stock heat range) Oil: HD360, Syn3, Amsoil 20w50, Mobil 1 (red cap) Primary/Tranny: HD SportTrans, Syn3, Amsoil 20w50 Filter: HD 63806-00Y Frankly, I haven't noticed a difference by running any of this stuff. The stuff I'm running currently is all for convenience. Mobil 1 is cheaper and easier to find than both Amsoil and HD fluids. Wix filters are cheaper than the stock ones and probably higher quality. The Napa Gold version is just a reboxed Wix filter and is easier to find. The stock plugs are a pain to buy, but they're relatively cheap and I've yet to have a problem with them, unlike the NGKs. The NGKs were expensive, required and odd-sized socket, and the aluminum cap on the top seized to the end of the plug wire so bad that the wire actually tore out of the wire end while trying to remove them. |

I notice everyone is using 75-90 in the primary. I bought a case of H-D SE 20W-50 because I thought I could use it in the primary and engine. Is this too light weight to use in the primary? Comments. |

I have always run M1 75-90 in the trans. However, the following would suggest that this is not really indicated, at least by Mobil. I will likely switch to Red Line 20W-50 for the trans at the next change over. Thoughts? Applications Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 is recommended for use in modern high performance automobiles like SUV's, Vans and Light duty trucks requiring API GL-5 and MT-1 level performance Mobil 1 Synthetic gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 is intended for initial fill, topping-off or refilling differentials, final drives, transfer cases and other gear applications where lubricants meeting API Service GL-5 and multi-purpose or mild EP gear lubricants are recommended Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 can also be used in rear axles where API Service GL-4 lubricant is recommended Not recommended for automatic, manual or semiautomatic transmissions for which engine oil or automatic transmission fluids are recommended |
