Was wondering if anyone has participated in the Rider's Edge SKilled Rider Course which is offered in various states via Harley Dealerships? I will be signing up for the class in June. don't you have the MSF classes?? Motorcycle safety foundation...they have a website with all the locations they offer all over the country. It's a lot cheaper than rider's edge too and it's just as good. http://www.msf-usa.org/ | ||

yup, cheaper, and MUCH harder to get into because of it... schedules fill up fast, so get steppin. and if you don't make it, show up anyway as a walk-in. if someone is even late, you'll get a chance to get in. | ||

+1. Courses are hard to find on a short notice, try to plan for at least a month out. You could try being buddy, buddy to one of the instructors as well  | ||

I agree with Midknyte. MSF fills up very fast. But show up anyway and be 15 minutes early. They take walk in's in the order they show up. When somebody is late and doesn't show, which is common, you will get the first seat. I got lucky doing it that way. It was the smartest thing i've ever done. You won't regret the time it takes. | ||

Grlryder: I teach both the Rider's Edge class and the MSF class. Rider's Edge uses the same curriculum as MSF, with some additional things that H-D developed. In either case, they are great classes. Different states have different requirements for drop ins, and some states are now offering weekday classes, if your schedule allows you to do that. Good luck! | ||

Of course, my state offers MSF courses, and I have looked into them. I was hoping Rider's Edge might be a bit more HD/V-Twin oriented and also perhaps catch a few Buells at the same time. The price difference is about $20...no biggie. Appreciate all the responses. | ||

20 bucks isn't bad, it's over 100 dollars difference here in south florida, but yeah, you get to ride a blast.. | ||

Who is riding the Blast? Are we talking the Experienced Rider course? Other than the Basic Rider course I believe you are required to use your own machine. | ||

Yes, ERC and RidersEdge SRC you provide your own bike. Only the BRC and NRC use Blasts. In BRC's, you may be riding other stuff as well depending on what the state has on hand. gbr | ||

I did the Rider's Edge skilled course, I thought it was great because the teachers tend to know Buells well and are able to give good safety tips about riding them. One tip that was given was to avoid using the rear break in emergencies - that's kept me out of trouble a few times. |
