Did Buell win the "big" race? No, (not yet), but why can't we all be happy with this little victory? So many complained that Buell was not being competetive, and now that they are showing results, a lot of people are pissing on the parade. A lot of us are very excited and proud of what Buell is doing. Why can't we be?

Thunderbikes are restricted though. I don't think anyone is pissing on your parade. I do think some people are living in a fantasy land. Just don't be too disappointed next weekend. Believe me, I hope and pray I'm proven wrong. I'm sick of my Brother-In -Law and Suzuki Rules crap. BTW. Ducati is doing great right now in WSB against GSKR 1000's, ZX-10's, R-1's, CBR1000's. Believe me, those Duc's running in Daytona would NOT be competitive in WSB. I'll bet money on that one.

Dario Marchetti, the 45, the over-the-hill, former-2-stroke-champ?

Oops, shouldn't talk to loud, that also describes Jeremy McWilliams.

Jim, they are both now faster than you or I and probably faster than just about anyone else who ever visits this site.

My experience is that the really fast guys don't actually slow down much, they just don't take as many chances or go over the edge as often as the young guys. They have developed a little more respect fro getting hurt.

Dave, you and I are old enough and wise enough to have never gotten on a track with these guys in the first place.

Bench racing sure is fun though. I win most of the time while I'm bench racing.

There is no way that Dario Marchetti's Ducati 999 was a full on WSB spec machine since it was reported to be slower on the banking then Jason DiSalvo's Yamaha YZF-R6. Superbike spec 999's tripped the radar gun at over 190 mph during the recent Daytona tire test.

Neil Hodgson, Ducati, 194.12
Ben Bostrom, Ducati, 193.68

I'm happy for Rico Penzkofer but there is still much work to do.

Sorry Blake, I was there.
I just had to leave before the last race.
My bad, mea culpa, etc.
The first post stated something about Crevier winning and that was what I was trying to respond to.
Rico rocks. I'll post some Daytona CCS/ASRA pics in a bit.

BTW it was not a full spec 999, but it is sprinkled with unobtanium works parts,
and that was just a quick once-over without intruding into his pits.

I imagine some people here winning the lottery and complaining about the taxes they'd have to pay as a result. Some people sure are funny.

Buell motorcycle loses race to motorcycle xyz, funny people say "see, Buell's can't race." Buell beats former WSB racer on Ducati 999RS Superbike and same people say "but that still doesn't mean that Buells can race."

Sprink,
Don't even think about comparing regional CCS events to the national ones, let alone Daytona. Not at all equivalent. No, not AMA, but darn sure a lot different that what you and I have experienced in the regional CCS club scene.

Good grief.

Congratulations Buell Racing! And congratulations to the BMW team that was able to capitalize on some Buell clutch toasting to win the ASRA Thunderbike race.

Thank you. Two more techs have been dispatched from Elf-Quarters to handle that additional work. Data points are flowing like water over the falls, we'll be ready.

Thanks for the heads up. Buell, having a complete support group smaller than Honda's catering staff, is looking good!

A win is a win, and a win the first race out is a huge accomplishment. I imagine the clutch will be reviewed and set up better for the 200.

I guess we'll all find out next Saturday.
But I think a lot of people are expecting a miracle right out of the box.
Blake. Most of the people racing CCS in Daytona ARE Regional racers. You just get the "big name" guys in there for practice before the race next week. They may pop into a CCS event for a test and tune, but most you'll never see the rest of the year.
I highly doubt that there are guys in CCS that do only Daytona and sit the rest of the year.

More interesting news from Daytona... racing a Harley Powered machine at Daytona has its advantages. Go Dan Bilansky!

http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=25178

Thanks Vik, that is for sure. Fogged visor and traffic or no.

Sprink man,
Right for sure. Though, do they not comprise the very best of all the regional clubs from all over the country, not to mention the field of ASRA competitors that includes folks like ex WSB racer Marchetti?

I heard that Paul James could have gone MotoGP if he wanted, same for those other Buell racers, Bilansky, Rozynski, Bemisderfer, Sipp, Johnson, but they became hopelessly addicted to racing a Buell. That Caligiuri character looks to be eager to join the ranks too. Hey, personal fulfillment and happiness is what counts, right? Rossi, Edwards, and Hayden can have the fame and fortune; our guys are more down to Earth types. : ]

Mike Ciccotto has been strangely out of the news of late. I hope the blood sucking Honda umbrella girls haven't got their claws into him! Lord please give Michael strength!

Even the ranks of MotoGP are not safe from Buell. Do you think McWilliams is in for trouble or what? I see on his web diary that he's already bemoaning not getting more time in the saddle on a Buell racing machine.

Warning! The above may include trace amounts of virtual Kuell-Aid. Enjoy!: D

Hey, not meaning to chime in so late here.. But on the ZTL brake thing.. I know what happened...

See, since it doesn't work, the bike couldn't slow down.. hence, it ended up passing the Ducati when the rider had that fogging problem in traffic..

Congrats to Rico.. and Brian, and Anthony and Dan and all the rest of the Buell riders out there doing battle right now.. and even more good thoughts for the racers entering the war to come on Saturday!

GO BUELL!!
