thermal mat underneat the airbox base (double heat shield, mat+airbox base) like "open air" F.A.S.T., but less intake noise. slightly vented airbox cover, need to change the grid, I need something with bigger holes. cheers

I like it............ Did you use Odie`s Airbox Heat Barrier ? What did you do with the 2 breather tubes ? You get much performance increase ? Murdoch |

No I used the mat included in the FAST kit. The breathers are re-routed to the bottom of the bike, but you can still left them in stock airbox holes (I don't like it). I got a big power gain (butt dynoed). I've also closed the stock air inlet (the one that pass through the frame, because I wanted to reduce the quantity of air going to the airfilter.. yeah, I'm running a 12 stock muffler with valve closed, so I don't need too much air. With open FAST I had a biiiiig punch above 2.500rpm but I experienced a little hole around 4.100. Now that hole has gone and the bike simply kick A$$, smooth and strong pull throughout all the rmp range. If you notice the hole trimmed in the airbox is still bigger than stock. intake noise is awesome, not so raw as with open FAST, but still toooocooool. p.s. I run race ECM, and if you want to know I got rid of my race muffler because it was too loud. But I'm happy with 12 stock one, because I don't lose any bottom end power, actually I gained some over stock. |

Why not just take the cover off? |

because of excessive intake noise (Message edited by xxxb9s on March 06, 2006) |
