Well, more like 48 hours, but these are more like reminders, since the meetings are prescheduled events.

The Knollwoods meetings are the first Thursday of even months, the BRAG rides are the first Sunday of odd months, unless there is something weird that causes us to move it back or forward (i.e., holidays, other major Buell events). I have published the basic calendar on the American Sport Bike Events site, here: http://www.americansportbike.com/events.htm

We usually discuss the next meeting's time and/or location at the current one.

Well it looks like I will be coming out there after all. I will be in Cypress from feb 26 through march 8. I will probably be staying in huntington beach at one of the many hotels there. I wont have my bike, but if anyone wants to meet up I can probably find some time.

Greetings fellow Buellers.

Sunday, March 5th is the scheduled BRAG meeting/ride. At the last SCAB meeting, we discussed candidate ride destination/meeting places, and it was decided then that we would do Glendora Ridge Road. Ebear was going to do the planning for that, as I haven't been there and am not familiar with the area.

However, Ebear is moving out of his apartment that he has been in for many years, and the two Porsches in his garage have to be sold. That day just happens to be the Porsche club auction day or some such thing, so Ebear said he can't go/lead.

So, either someone else familiar with the area there has to take over the planning, or we'll have to scrap that destination and pick another. If no one steps forward for that, I suggest that we just make Cooks Corner our destination. They have lots of tables out back that we can have our meeting at. I'll send something out this weekend with the final info, so let me know ASAP if someone can lead the original plan.

Alternately, someone can just buy Ebear's two Porsches so he can lead as originally planned. : )

EB, Baldy? There's bound to be snow up there, no?

If the roads might be treacherous there, perhaps we could head over to Ricky and Ronnie's in Lomita? Among other things, there's a large screen TV in the patio area for watching races, plus other areas where we could have a meeting. Good food too!

Yeah , Sparky....Unless it's VERY WARM for the next week the gate will not be open at EITHER end.Does that place get Speed channel?Would be cool to find a few comfy places so as to watch races together when the season gets going!By the way,do you have plans to attend any other races this season?American Sport Bike Al and I may be going to the new track in Salt Lake this year!........I called American Sport Bike yesterday and suggested alternate plans for the March meeting....email or call Al and Joanne with your ideas! He had mentioned Cooks and you have Ortega Hwy right there, and maybe the ULYs could venture doen the Tenaja truck trail to see how far its open??just an idea....

Ebear, I think they do have SpeedTV at R&R's but I'll find out for sure. That'd be a cool place to cheer on the XBRRs in the Daytona 200! When I find out, I'll call Al.

I'm planning on Laguna Seca for MotoGP and again for the American LeMans Series (ALMS) in October to watch the Corvette Race Team kick a$$ again.

Here is the plan for this Sunday. It's got a little bit of everything, should be a full but fun day.

The BRAG meeting will be at Cooks Corner, a biker hang out in Silverado (El Toro area). We will meet there for breakfast/meeting at 9:30 AM. This is late enough for folks from all over to get there on time, but early enough so that we can do the rest of the activities planned. See the Google map here for how to get there from where ever you call home: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=19122+El+Toro+Rd,+Silverado,+CA+92676&ll =33.67664,-117.611217&spn=0.069569,0.170116

After breakfast and a short meeting, we'll saddle up at about 11 AM for a 1 hour ride east to the Lake Elsinore area. Terry Mohr has agreed to let us all descend upon his motorcycle laden residence to view the World Superbike double header on Speed channel. Race 1 is at noon, race 2 is at 1PM. The world superbike races are getting exciting again now that the other manufacturers are coming out to play. Last weeks racing from Qatar were both apparently nail biters, with Corser and Bayliss really going at it. So this weekends Philips Island racing should be a good watch. After the races, folks from the south will ride back towards San Diego through Pala and the usual twisty bits (likely 76 to Couser to Lilac to gopher canyon, etc), but we'll wing that part depending upon time.

Folks can get to Cooks however they want to. From those to the east, you'll likely do Ortega both ways. But I'll meet anyone that wants to come from the west at Biggs Oceanside at 8-8:15, kickstands up and rolling at 8:30 sharp. Be there fueled if you want to ride up with us. We'll blast north across Pendleton on 5 and take the back way into Cooks through Trabuco Canyon.

I'll have specific instructions to Terry's place in a day and will send them out. As we come across Ortega, we'll pull into Hell's Kitchen just long enough to pick up anyone that couldn't get to Cooks but still want to come to Terry's. We likely won't even dismount, so be hanging out front all fed and bill paid and all that by 11:45 if you want to catch a ride in.

Terry indicated that there is a cool dirt road that drops down from the peaks there practically into his back yard. So us Uly riders may elect to meet you at Terry's after splitting off at Hell's Kitchen. The storms that are going through between now and then may modify that somewhat.

If you 're pretty sure you're going to meet at Biggs Oside at 8-8:15, let me know via email.

More to come....

Al

If you need directions to Terry's house, contact me at sales-at-americansportbike-dot-com or alighton-at-adelphia-dot-net and I'll send you directions.

Alternately, just be at Hells Kitchen around 11:45 and join up with us as we ride down the hill to Terry's place. He's right at the bottomm of the hill near where 74 Tees. The dirt road that goes down the hill (El cariso Truck trail) looks like a hoot, assuming it isn't washed out! Just wanted to say thanks to Terry for his AWESOME hospitality today. He was a great host, and I had a really good time. His place is like a museum.
Terry made sure we were all fed and taken care of, food was great etc.
He even overheard me and another rider saying we were going to stop for gas on the way home, and tried to go get us some gas out of the garage! Talk about a great host.

Thanks Al for getting us all together.

Today was indeed a great day - thanks to Al for organizing it, Terry for hosting, and to Tom for the practical demonstration showing just how fragile the Uly's license plate housing really is

Here are a few of the pictures I took today...

Fun times...Terry's pad is awesome, and what a great host. He made sure we had something to eat or drink in our hands at all times. Very cool he won the split-pot raffle.

Nice pictures, Jack.

Tom and I got nice and lost in the Murrieta highlands hills on the way home. Getting lost is kinda fun, actually.

Rickies & Ronnies in Lomita? link

I'm going to be out of town on that weekend, but the place welcomes motorcyclists, hot-rodders, cruisers and all sorts of car clubs to meet there and have fun. Let 'em know you want to see the race on the big screen.

And tell 'em Sparky sent ya's, OK?

Lomita is pretty close to home for me... (Santa Monica). Do they have a screen suitable for race-watchin'? Are they friendly to a bunch of guys hootin' and hollerin'? (And jumping on tables if Buell wins).

RnR's has a HUGE screen on one wall in the patio.

I'd think they'd be OK with their customers having a good time but, unless they recently changed their policy, there's no beer allowed on the patio where the big TV screen is, probably because it's mostly outdoors and it faces the streets.

There are two places to eat though, 1) being the patio area which is the place pictured on their home page and 2) would be the main restaurant which serves beer & wine (and good food).

Help! You ever feel like that? Well thats how I feel right now. Let's just say I come from the car world and have gotten in a bit over my head with my Buell. Changing out primary cover, cam cover, etc.. and I have run into some issues to put it lightly. I will only go to the dealer as a last resort so I am asking for anyone in the Southern Cal area if they would be willing to take a trip to my place and show me a thing or three and get me back on the road. Everything that I need help with is the motor and it's an 04 XB12R. Food and Drink will be provided. You may have to deal with a child or two interrupting every once in a while. Finally there will be a paycheck for whomever helps me out. Please fellow Buellers can you give me some help. I am located roughly where the 8 and 15 freeways meet. Thanks a bunch. John

Hopefully I will be able to make it down here again and next time bring my bike and be able to go on some rides.

Hmmmm sounds like I might have to plan a Crest ride! The round trip from San Bernardino with the route we run is 260 or 280 miles. You can shave off a few by meeting up with us at the Gas station on the 138 and the 15 though. It is a heck of a great ride with everything from tight decreasing radius turns to 100mph sweepers!
There is an excellent little restaurant up there.

I would prefer to ride on Wed. If I hear back from enough folks that can only make it on a weekend then I will schedule it for a Sunday. If out on a weekend I will set a slower pace than a Wed. This is done for a few reasons.
1. Safety of the public at large. It gets busy up there.
2. I want everyone to go home in one piece.
3. Cops. They are thick up there on the weekends.
4. More than one beer at "The Ranch" and you will ride home alone.

Only a few rules.
1. Wear good gear!
2. Ride at your own pace! The fast guys will wait all all the intersections.
3. More than one beer at the "The Ranch" and you will ride home alone.
4. No bleeding on Skyguy..........

If interested let me know as I think it will be about three weeks before the roads and weather make for a good ride. Could be a lot of fun!

Ciao,

Yohinan, save your money for a service manual for your bike, if you don't have one already. Any dealer can order it for you.

It's like having Erik standing by your side telling you what to do next. Well, sorta. : )

Sparky,
Spoke to Al on the phone. Seems I over thought the issue and it's not as bad as I initially thought. I still did some stupid stuff not knowing motorcycle motors but nothing that cant be fixed. Maybe this was a good thing and my opportunity to learn these motors a bit. I also have another volunteer that is going to come and give me a bit a help. So all in all it seems like things will work out and I may be riding my bike sooner than I thought. Oh yes I do have the FSM already. Thanks again BadWebbers. And, when I do get it running again I will have to go one one of these planned rides that seem to happen when I am not able to attend.
