I need to change out the stock handlebars on my Lightning & thought why not get something better than the originals. What are my options ? Anyone have any advice &/or pics ?

Thanks

Get some Laverda Clubman Style bars. They are 4-way adjustable and look and feel incredible. if you want something cool and different, I wouldnt recommend anything less. They retail for about 139.00. Gentleman John is the other person on this site that has them. Take a look at his profile. Im not ready to post pics quite yet.

Here is a rather useful thread about the Laverda Bars.

After having put some rather limited miles on them due to winter weather conditions. I find that I still like them very much.

For a slight change I recommend the Renthal ultra lows. Available from Al @ American sportbike, one of our fine sponsors. NUTS

I have the Crossroads "clip-ons" that bolt on where the stock Lightening bars did and really like them.

I just installed O'neal Azonic CR Low bend bars from cyclegear.com. They are much better then the originals. I use to get some vibration with the factory chromoly bars and my CRG bar end mirrors, but with the new bars being so ridged, they don't move at all now. The best part is there only $36 shipped if they have any left. I cant seem to find them on their site anymore

Thanks Keith.
The Crossroads are a nice bar, lots of speedy guys use them. Available from American Sport Bike:

Another mod that is sort of related to handlebar mods, is this brake reservoir mod that I made.
I found that the standard front brake "coffin" type reservoir to be somewhat unsightly, and also prevents a perfect adjustment of the front brake lever under certain circumstances.

So I replaced the stock reservoir with a Nissan 5/8" unit which came off a Japanese inline four. They are as common as dirt, and fit very easily using the stock brake lines. I had to make a little bracket to fit. Good time to change brake fluid. When was the last time you changed yours?

Went from stock to Moose CR low-bend aluminum bars (liked them a lot for $50) to Crossroads 0 degrees (the only way I'd like them better would be if they cost $50!).

Possibly, but probably not.
Probably no one has tried their bars.
Me? I love the Cross Roads.

Cygnus, I'm not ignoring you, just wondering if I have enough slack in the cables and wiring...I have some similar style on a older Ducati, made in Germany I think, that do a lot of adjustments...these do look more refined.

Ejiii - post pics please please!!!

Couple things about all these bars, I've tried several out...

I bought the Renthal "Ultra lows" thinking they would be lower and forward compared to my stock CityX bars, they are NOT, if fact they are practically identical.

The Renthal "street-fighters" are more like the Azonic CR-lows, but a bit higher.

I like the Azonics, I cut them in 1/2 inch on each side. However, I'm saving up for the Crossroads, I still want more flat or something.

Good thread

I like the Azonics, I cut them in 1/2 inch on each side.

I cut mine down 1 inch on each side, i would suggest not cutting more than that due to the bend and space needed for the controls.

Robino: check out www.cyclegear.com, not sure if they still have them in stock. price was right at like $35 shipped. they did not have other colors, only 'polished'. i used some Scotchbrite to dull the finish even more. they come with a crossbar and pad as well.

will the pro-taper fats not fit the tripple?

them azonics look fragile, especially if stoppies and such are to be done with them...
