Ok, the insurance has kicked back in, license plate is renewed, daylight is getting longer, temps are getting warmer, I did the bike service before winter, installed the saddle bags this winter, and damn it, I getting spring fever. LOOK OUT, SLAYER IS ROAD BOUND! What is the to do part of this posting you say? (Ok Lowflyer, I know you don't give a sh-t!) Well after briefly riding the Uly before winter and reading most people's posting this winter,(I need to start getting out more!) I have a good ideal on the mods needed to the Uly to add that something extra. So, this season I will be riding around checking your bikes out to see in person your pride and joy. No, Bindy, Opto, Brat, and Ray, I don't think you will see me "Down Under". Now if you can get a fund going, who knows? List of changes worth looking at you say? (Ok Lowflyer, save it!)(Snub, don't talk color now!) 1)Headlighting 2)Exhaust 3)Windshield Now you all knew this didn't you? I would also love to hear about your follow up on changes you made this winter. Do not expect me to make fast changes to my bike. Beer drinking and gas money comes first! Trying to pry a paid vacation out of the company I work for. Have not had one in four years. Yes Snub, that's what makes me so mean! If I get a vacation, look out Homecoming, here I come! |

Dragon - if you ever did get the chance to come 'Down Under' I'm sure that we could arrange a beer or ten! Enjoy your summer to the max - I have just spent our summer having more fun riding than I have since I was a kid with my first bike. The Uly has more smiles per mile - simple fact. |

Opinion only: Drummer original with "half loud spec" and LHS exit and send your stock ecm to Al Lighton to get it remapped for the original Drummer. K&N air filter or whatever is the go these days. Don't need the headlights unless you ride at night. Don't need the windshield either, unless it keeps you warm. Otherwise you might as well drive a car... I think we should start a Dragon Down Under Tour fund...we could proly line you up with a nice Aussie lady...and lots of beer of course! Tempted? (Message edited by opto on March 05, 2006) |

After hearing my nephews's vance and hines pipe on the 2000 S3T he picked up yesterday, my wife asked, "can you put something like that on your bike?" This is the same woman that just had a cow about me wanting to put an econo Drummer or Special OPS muffler on my new Uly. I think shes coming around. I went for a short ride on the Uly late yesterday, dodging some ice, salt, gravel and enjoying the heck out of my new Kimpex heated grip kit from Aerostich. I did'nt sound as good as my nephew's bike but it runs pretty good. Chad's post about the buell race kit install has me intrigued though. I don't have enough cash for the whole kit so I wanted to know if anyone is running just the muffler with stock ECM/filter/TPS reset? Its supposed to snow again today...this sucks. |

Okay, I'll be serious. Here is my list: 1. Race kit/exhaust somethingorother- for fun 2. Zega bags - nothing against the stockers, but I just want some bags I can scratch and/or dent 3. 2-meter/440/FRS/XM/MP3 comm setup off some type with some APRS capability 4. Buell tall windshield w/ Laminar thingamabob Trips planned so far: 1. Missouri spoonbill snagging/bike camping in April 2. Arkansas bike camping in mid-May 3. Homecoming in June 4. Jackson Hole, WY and surrounding in July |

Already swapped the stock headlight bulbs for euro-spec silverstars. Heated grips installed too. I do want to get a taller screen, but am waiting for the Buell OEM version. When the touratech handlebar bag comes in I plan on stuffing some electrical crud into it for audio and the like. Lowflyer, have you seen the happy-trails bags? The 'strom folks love em, and they are quite a bit cheaper than the touratech bits. http://www.happy-trail.com/category.aspx?categoryid=135&openid=135 I'm tempted to sell my brand new Buell bags and get em. Trips? NC/Northern GA end of April. Gunnison CO in June. Daves' UP ride. Homecomming is likley. As is a trip to Ely MN in the fall. Plus some day rides in WI. |

I had never heard of Happy-trails. They look like the ticket, though. They are certainly ugly enough.

I had not either, until I was looking at some beefs people had with Al Jesse bags. Most were from the Vstrom owners, they were the ones that were switching to the H-T ones. Lots on advrider. |

Lowflyer you should look me up when your in Jackson Hole. I live in Victor, ID, which is about 15 miles, 2600 vertical feet, and many curves away from Jackson. Hopefully by July, I'll be able to ride my Uly out of our driveway without crossing any snow!!! I've only been on one ride so far! Many , many miles of dirt roads available to tool around on. Plenty of room to camp on our farm also! |

My trip to JH will be my family's vacation, but I plan to trailer the Uly. We have rented a condo to use as a base and plan to hit the touristy stuff with the kids. I will be taking at least one afternoon to myself for some riding. I would love to hook up with a fellow Bwebber for a ride in that area. |

I emailed the Happy-trails folks with some questions on pricing and availability. Their stuff looks rock-solid. |

Well Slayer, it's about time you came out of your hibernation! It's not any warmer in PA and I've logged a few rides this year, MAYBE to work in the AM! I'm off on Friday and (so far) the weather goofs are calling for mid 60s and sunny....yahoo! Opto (& Bindy & Rays & others): Hey, I want in on this "Down Under Tour fund" too! Visited friends (ok they're my wifes friends) in Florida not long ago and they showed us their NZ/Aussi vacation pics, very nice! Some day!! Lowflyer: Pay no attention to Slayer, people from Ohio are a little........off! I was in Grand Teton NP last year, unbelievable! OK my to do list... 1) K&N filter 2) taller screen 3) new ECM / ECM remap 4) Drummer (not sure which yet. SS?) Nothing too soon (or too expensive) for me either, lots of projects around/in the house. Beer is good food! |

Opto, tempted is not the word! Aussies to party with, beautiful country to visit, make that ICE COLD beer to drink, and a lady on top of all that; HOLEY SH-T, HELL YEA are the words! I agree with your changes. About the headlight, I do run back roads at night, (I am leaving the reasons out of this discussion) and I am truly running blind with the stock setup. And the only reason I would want more windshield is to keep me on the bike while fighting headwinds when running rapidly. Oh yes, if I can come "Down Under", I would get rid of the bike's beaver tail so the nice lady has to hold on to me! Sorry about your sis and good luck to her and your whole family. I have some experience with this. |

Wait a second........Slayer check your temperature, are you sure your feeling ok? There wasn't one bit of sarcasm in that whole post! How impressive. Having read the Chad Hargis post about the "race kit"...........I want one! Opto, God bless your sister, I'll be praying for her. When Slayer and I visit we will have to have a few cold ones with her!

Ahhh! I took another of those short hour and a half rides along these nice river roads in these parts! That's the nice part of living in a small city out in the country. In a couple of minutes you are on some very nice roads with low traffic. Yes it was nice, just a few cars and bikes were out. No tourists or farm equipment. RIDE ON! |

Sister has a very positive attitude and it was good to see family again. Did some miles on the Uly, went great, took about 6 tanks of fuel to completely clear out the water from one bad fuel station. 3 jap bikes couldn't cut the mustard (I had an unfair advantage - on the Uly). I think the standard tyres are "queasy" as one annony said, and it varies according to the road surface, I'm looking forward to some straight road tyres. I tried to wreck the standard tyres but didn't succeed. The bike even started to feel small instead of tall, I think I'm getting used to it. So add tyres to your wishlist, and don't overlook the Drummer. |
